About The Position
Reports To: Chief Information Officer
The KIPP Foundation is seeking a Vice President of Technology who will provide strategic leadership on the organization’s technology infrastructure and how we support the KIPP network of 28 regions. In this role, you will build and execute the design, acquisition, management, and implementation of the KIPP technology infrastructure. The VP of Technology will work closely with various departments within KIPP Foundation to ensure that technology initiatives align with the organization's goals and objectives. The VP will establish technology standards and work with their team to communicate technical information to the KIPP Foundation and network. This role will oversee a technology function that will comprise of 10 to 15 employees.
Responsibilities
Vision Setting and Strategic Planning
Develop and implement a strategic technology plan that aligns with the organization's mission and goals to work with 28 KIPP regions to achieve efficiency and scale.
Uses high quality data, research, and analysis to set a high bar of excellence for goal setting and ensures critical team actions, decisions, and recommendations are driven by data
Technology Management and Application Development
Oversee the management of the organization's technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network systems
Oversee the architecture, design, and development of complex solutions using KIPP’s technology platforms. Convert business requirements into technical design specifications and provide hands-on technical leadership to development and integration projects with internal and external/vendor teams.
Team Leadership and Management
Lead a technology team of 10-15 employees, including managing through layers, setting the bar of excellence for hiring decisions, performance management, and promotion criteria.
Provide professional development, mentorship, and coaching to the technology team to foster a culture focused on outcomes, learning, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Provide change leadership, the articulating the case for change in alignment with organization priorities and producing compelling, tailored communication to introduce change or new initiatives to a variety of audience
Process and Project Management:
Sets rigorous goals in alignment with org-wide priorities, and in collaboration with KIPP Foundation functional leads and regional leadership team members, coordinate implementation of cohesive technology projects, from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with org wide priorities
Create systems and conditions that allow for work to be documented, codified, and scaled to promote efficiency and maximize effectiveness
Establish and maintain relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
Ensure that the organization's technology systems are secure and compliant with relevant regulations and standards.
Develop and manage the technology budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively.

Experience and Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required, advanced degree preferred.
10+ years of experience in technology management, with at least 8+ years in a leadership role that includes (1) managing teams of 10-15 employees and through layers and (2) overseeing the strategic direction and management of a company's technological initiatives.
Experience in large-scale change management, turnaround and restructurings, or related work
Charter School Management or experience in a related field is a plus, but not required
Experience with learning and development, offering professional development, and/or coaching
Experience in a variety of programs and platforms, such as Microsoft SQL, Azure, M365; LAN/WAN management, Virtualization and Networking platforms (VMWare/Cisco), Salesforce, Visual Studio and .NET development,
Proven track record of fostering innovation, driving technological initiatives, and navigating complex business challenges for multi-state and large size organizations
Experience managing complex technology projects, migrating from large environments and integrating different system, from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with technology vendors and service providers.
Experience ensuring that the organization's technology systems are secure and compliant with relevant regulations and standards.
Experience developing and managing technology budgets, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively.

Travel requirements: 15% travel is expected for this role

Location
It is preferred, but not mandatory for this role to be based out of the NYC KIPP Foundation office. This role has the option of working from a remote office full-time.
Compensation and Benefits.
In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, and relevant experience. The salary range for this position is [$190,000-227,000]. In addition, KIPP Foundation provides a variety of benefits to employees, including:
25 holidays for + 18 days additional flexible PTO days (flexible PTO increases to 23 days for years 3 and 4 and to 28 days for years 5+).
