KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools  is part of the KIPP national network. In the 2024-25 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating more than 3,000 students, kindergarten through twelfth grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida.

  • KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 4th grade, 6th - 8th grade 

  • KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

  • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

  • KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 12th grade

For the current school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work the following hours Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.

  • K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 dismissal is at 1:30pm 

  • High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School dismissal is at 12:30pm. 

Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. *This doesn’t include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

Job Description

This position reports to the Director of Facilities and is a year-round, full-time position. The position would likely work at our McDuff Ave campus supporting KIPP Bold City High School.

KIPP Jacksonville is seeking a facilities technician to execute preventive maintenance, repairs, and work orders. The facilities technician will work with the Director of Facilities to ensure that KIPP Jacksonville students have access to safe facilities to provide an environment supportive of learning and growth. The facilities technician will carry out daily work orders as assigned by the Director of Facilities to high standards of quality. 

KEY DUTIES

  • Work closely with the Director of Facilities to fulfill all work orders for on-time completion and to high standards of quality

  • On-call response during hours of operation and as needed

  • General grounds keeping

  • Proactive maintenance- replacing filters, testing systems, scheduling yearly audits, etc.

  • Reactive maintenance- basic facilities repair: furniture, electrical, plumbing, HVAC

  • Meet and anticipate all compliance needs and deadlines

  • Manage relationship with vendors as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Estimated salary range is $39,000-$43,000 annually

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of building systems and the maintenance and repair thereof

  • Maintains positive relations with others

  • Meticulous attention to detail with an ability to produce high-quality work in a dynamic environment

  • Reliable transportation

  • Ability to tackle multiple projects and initiatives at once with a strong sense of prioritization

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years’ facilities maintenance-related experience

  • Expertise in or technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical and/or plumbing systems

  • Verbal communication and interpersonal skills required to work with a broad group of stakeholders with different interests and needs

  • Experience in Microsoft Outlook and facilities management software
