Job Description

Position Overview

The Program Director's Assistant will assist the Program Director with the daily operation of the afterschool program. This role encompasses administrative duties, data entry, and compliance monitoring. This is an ideal position for a candidate who has excellent demonstrated abilities in knowledge management, document retention, communications,  and systems design, especially in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 

Alongside the Program Director, Assistant Directors provide hands-on leadership and direction for after-school staff, engage in direct supervision of children, and collaborate with after-school teachers to develop age-appropriate curriculum, activities and projects across a range of areas including sports, arts, academic enrichment, and leadership. Daily job duties are divided between administrative responsibilities and on-site supervision of after-school programming.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Program Director with all aspects of program operation
  • Maintain participant information and attendance on DYCD online, ensuring all data is entered by deadlines required by the funding source
  • Complete and submit paperwork as requested by the Program Director
  • Ensure all participant, employee, and program documents are organized and maintained
  • Assist with scheduling and planning of parent engagement activities, special events, and culminating shows
  • Help monitor the required staff to participant ratio daily
  • Must be able to supervise a group of children and participate in activities and trips as needed
  • Maintain supplies in first aid and safety kits
  • Responsible for maintaining a daily log of all incidents/injuries as well as completing incident reports to be reviewed and submitted by the Program Director
  • Serve in cooperation with the Education Specialist as the manager of the program inthe Program Director’s absence Perform other assignments as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • At least 2 years of youth development experience within a DYCD-funded programs
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a Part-Time position and offers a competitive rate of $23 per hour. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience relevant to the role and longevity within the KIPP network.

This role is based in NYC and will require travel to our schools. If you relocate outside of a commutable distance or out of the state of NY, your employment will be subject to review, which may include separation from KIPP NYC.
