KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools  is part of the KIPP national network. In the 2024-25 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating more than 3,000 students, kindergarten through twelfth grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida.

  • KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 4th grade, 6th - 8th grade 

  • KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

  • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

  • KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 12th grade

For the current school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work the following hours Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.

  • K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 dismissal is at 1:30pm 

  • High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School dismissal is at 12:30pm. 

Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. *This doesn’t include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

Job Description

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks a high school social studies teacher for the 2024-25 school year. Teachers will be responsible for at least one subject area and are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their school leader.

KIPP Bold City's vision is to be a high school built on student voice and choice. Bold City offers a variety of options for its students- including honors classes, Advanced Placement classes for all, and career/technical education. Classes are chosen based on student and family interest. As the school grows, we seek to add more career tracks as well as Dual Enrollment. We also offer a variety of extracurriculars and sports to students. We seek teachers that are aligned to our philosophies around student voice and choice and are flexible to meet the interest areas of students.

Please note the location of Bold City High School is the McDuff campus located at 1440 McDuff Avenue North. 


OUR CURRENT MODEL

The model for the high school will change over time as more grade levels are added and the model is subject to change. Core content areas at the high school level include science, history, ELA, and math. High school lead teachers will likely have a homeroom class and teach several classes in their subject area. While this is a typical teaching load, some teaching loads may vary. 

Any electives are selected by the school leader according to student interest and teacher certification area(s). Foreign language and elective teachers should apply through a separate posting. 


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Our current compensation and benefits structure is competitive and is commensurate with experience. 

  • Our current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000

  • To support teacher practice and their growth, all lead teachers receive individualized coaching and professional development.

*The salary offered in the DocuSign doesn’t include any stipends for which the candidate may be eligible. In our first year of paying out millage stipends, certified New-to-KIPP instructional staff received an additional $7,000. Certified staff also received TSIA stipends this year. There are other opportunities to earn money at KIPP Jax in the form of additional stipends.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification 

  • At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track record of high achievement in the classroom

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • FLDOE Certified in Social Science 6-12 

  • Florida Reading Endorsement (or reading competency coursework in progress) 

  • ESOL Endorsement

  • Two or more years of secondary teaching experience with a proven track record of high achievement in the classroom

  • Experience with teaching honors level or AP level courses in a high school
