In the 2024-25 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating more than 3,000 students, kindergarten through twelfth grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida.
KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 4th grade, 6th - 8th grade
KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade
KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade
KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 12th grade
For the current school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work the following hours Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.
K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 dismissal is at 1:30pm
High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School dismissal is at 12:30pm.
Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. *This doesn’t include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

Job Description
KIPP Jacksonville seeks a Facilities Engineer. This position is under the direct supervision of the Director of Facilities. The Facilities Engineer oversees general maintenance, upkeep, and security for multiple school facilities and grounds. The Facilities Engineer is responsible for all oversight, budget management, and contracted services. In this position, s/he is responsible for the efficient operation of the facility’s building, and site components as well as preventative maintenance and repairs. The Facility Engineer oversees and coordinates with the school leadership and operations team in connection with major repairs and maintenance of the facility to ensure that the building has adequate heat, lighting, ventilation, plumbing, security, etc. for the safety and comfort of the KIPP Jacksonville Team and Family. The Facilities Engineer will also direct and manage activities and personnel related to special, capital, and other grant-related projects and deferred maintenance and replacements of building components and systems as assigned by the Director of Facilities and Transportation. This position also provides support as needed to other facilities within the KIPP Jacksonville region.
The Facilities Engineer will work at our McDuff campus during operational hours, daily, Monday - Friday. Occasional weekends and holidays may be required.
Responsibilities
Facilities Management - 60%
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks and repairs when required
- Perform minor repairs and oversee repair and maintenance work by contracted vendors.
- Monitor the operation of electrical/mechanical equipment supporting the facility and the facility's critical operations.
- Respond to day-to-day work requests with SLA
- Participate in facilities remodeling, new construction, and other planning activities
- Recommend and estimate facility repairs and improvements for inclusion in the annual budget
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Administration - 30%
- Monitors and controls school-specific facility budgets under the oversight of the Director of Facilities
- Responsible for overseeing all capital and special projects as assigned by the Facilities Director
- Directs, manages, and assures project completion in a successful, timely, and cost-effective manner.
- Directs, manages, and assures Custodian staff have set schedules and are kept informed about any concerns regarding facilities.
- Reports issues, concerns, and deviations from project requirements, physical building and site concerns, and security issues to the Director of Facilities.
- Collaborates on initiatives to bring situations back into compliance.
- Attends all meetings as requested by the Director of Facilities.
- Inventory and purchase necessary materials, equipment, and supplies.
Operations - 10%
- Meet regularly with the Principal and Director of Operations to identify issues and concerns regarding facilities.
- Responds to and addresses emergencies
- Informs and coordinates with the Principal and Director of Operations on scheduling and timing constraints regarding projects and maintenance activities
- Ensure all school safety regulations and compliance ordinances are met.

- Estimated salary range is $45,000-$54,000 annually

Qualifications
- Associate degree in a related field or a minimum of 5 years, verifiable, maintenance and repair experience in medical, office, or educational environments
- Proven expertise in either Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing
- Project Management experience is preferred
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work as a team leader and as a team member.
- Ability to manage and balance the ambiguities and multiple priorities inherent in an entrepreneurial environment
- Relentless results-orientation
- Strong preference for candidates with Building Automation Systems or Energy Management Systems software. (BAS/EMS)
- Ability to respond to operational and emergencies.
- Ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of problems/malfunctions, and corrective action.
