Job Description

KIPP Memphis has a great opportunity for a part-time/temporary accounting specialist position in our Memphis Regional Office. The accounting specialist will work under the Finance Department and will report directly to the Managing Director . The individual will be responsible for preparing Journal Entries and reconciling all the cash accounts daily/monthly into the General Ledger accounting software.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Balance bank reconciliations for cash and other various accounts
  • Assist with managing the receipt of cash from all schools and facilitate the deposits of cash to the bank
  • Assist with the management and oversight of adherence to the KIPP Memphis Cash Receipt
  • Policy and Procedures document
  • Assist with balancing and reconciling the general ledger
  • Prepare and review cash and check deposits for KIPP Memphis’s monthly financial close and
  • maintain physical and digital records
  • Prepare revenue-related schedules and journal entries for the monthly close
  • Assist internal employees with credit card expense reports
  • Reconcile Credit Card Payment
  • Reconcile Concur Expenses
  • Prepare Journal Entries for MSCS Deposits
  • Prepare Journal Entries for ACH Payments
  • Prepare Journal Entries for School Deposits
  • Prepare Journal Entries for Credit Card Payment
  • Prepare Journal Entries for Concur Expenses
  • Prepare Journal Entries for SNP
  • Reconcile Credit Card Activity
  • Prepare Journal Entries for Credit Card Activity
  • Reconcile Internal School Funds
  • Manage Bill email inbox
  • Ensure all invoices are processed and assigned to appropriate school or department
  • Code and submit invoices for SST in Concur
  • Add new vendors to Abila and Concur
  • File W-9s for new vendors
  • Prepare and upload invoices from Concur to Abila
  • Prepare and upload checks from Concur to Abila
  • Reconcile liability accounts
  • Assist with KIPP Memphis’s annual financial audit and support additional monitoring visits/audits as necessary
  • Perform other assignments/projects as assigned
  • Serve as an engaged member of KIPP Memphis’s staff

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; some college credits preferred
  • 1 year of bookkeeping/accounting experience required
  • Detailed oriented and organized
  • Results Driven
  • Team player and self-starter
  • Ability to work under pressure and remain calm amid changing circumstances.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Competence in Excel and other Microsoft applications
  • Competence in Google Docs, sheets and other applications

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience, degree attainment, and credentials. A competitive benefits package will also be offered.

 

ADA Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and actively monitoring student behavior while teaching
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child
  • Must be able to facilitate classroom transitions by walking through hallways and up and down stairs with students
