KIPP Metro Atlanta currently operates eleven KIPP schools including five primary schools, five middle schools and one high school, as well as KIPP Forward which supports students on their journey “to and through” college. KIPP MAC provides strategic, financial and operational support and oversight to all KIPP Metro Atlanta schools and drives initiatives designed to strengthen the schools’ academic programming and outcomes.

Job Description

Reporting to the campus Principal, the Principal Fellow is a full-time member of the school leadership team and will lead a targeted grade band across a KIPP Metro Atlanta K-8 campus. The Principal Fellow supports the development of the Principal’s school-wide vision and takes an active role in investing and mobilizing teachers and leaders to achieve the collective goals of the school. The Principal Fellow also owns the implementation of key school priorities in support of the school-wide vision and will coach and manage both instructional and culture Assistant Principals. Through on-the-ground leadership opportunities, targeted professional development, coaching, mentoring, and formal learning, our Principal Fellows will deepen the instructional skills, adaptive skills, and mindset needed to successfully lead a KIPP Metro Atlanta School. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Execute strategies that ensure attainment of  ambitious school-wide vision and goals that lead scholars on a path to a choice-filled life
  • Develop leaders and teachers to provide rigorous and high quality instruction
  • Build one’s own and school staff’s knowledge and expertise in effective instructional design and academic standards
  • Regularly observe and coach instructional leaders  to ensure they are providing high-impact, actionable and bite-sized feedback to teachers on a weekly basis
  • Lead whole-school professional development that drives highest-impact improvements in teacher practice
  • Implement the school’s strategic plan to close the gap between the school’s current performance and annual goals
  • Implement the school’s clear vision for excellent school culture and regularly articulate this vision to leaders, scholars, staff, and families
  • Develop and model expectations for leaders, teachers, and scholars on school-wide practices for a positive learning culture and support the implementation of character development and behavior management systems
  • Evaluate school culture through proactive, scheduled monitoring
  • Actively develop school culture where classrooms are joyful and engaging and continually evaluate the school’s culture through proactive, scheduled monitoring
  • Develop leaders and teachers’ ability to analyze student data to identify strategies that will move scholars toward mastery
  • Support the Principal in developing systems and structures to hire, develop and retain a diverse, highly-effective staff
  • Effectively implement the performance management and evaluation of direct reports 
  • Plan and prioritize time and resources to achieve annual goals 
  • Ensure the campus remains in good standing by supporting the completion of all compliance driven tasks as required by the district, state, and KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools regional priorities
  • Cultivate one’s own success and sustainability by engaging lifelines and renewing to get stronger

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
  • A minimum of three years of demonstrated leadership, management and coaching experience as an Assistant Principal in an underserved community, prior Principal experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to drive academic results directly and through others 
  • Demonstrated success in developing leadership capacity in others 
  • Demonstrated resilience and focus on scholar outcomes
  • Ability to set direction across an entire school and motivate others to action
  • Have a passion for being a part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture
  • Leverage strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Be a collaborative team player

Additional Information

Compensation

Compensation for this role is between $95,000 - $105,000.  The starting pay will depend on various factors that may include but are not limited to professional experience, education, training, and certifications. 

  • 8 days of Paid Time Off, in addition to identified holidays and regular school breaks including Fall Break, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, Mid-Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer Break.
