Job Description

Here's what you need to know:

KIPP Miami Schools seeks to hire academic interventionists to serve our upper elementary and middle school students. Academic interventionists will support classroom teachers by using assessment data to work with targeted students in one-on-one, small group, and/or whole group settings. The purpose of this role is to maximize student growth and learning by providing individualized and data-informed instruction, meeting students where they are, and pushing them to next-level performance on internal and state assessments.

At KIPP all teachers are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing our curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their teams, building relationships with our students and families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher and interventionist responsibilities, including schedule and student caseloads, are ultimately outlined by School Leaders and Heads of Schools, with support from other members of a school’s leadership team.

Depending on the grade levels the interventionist works with, the model and schedule can vary slightly.

Qualifications

Requirements of the position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience working with children and youth via small group instruction.

Highly Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous teaching experience working in a school environment. 
  • Previous teaching experience specifically working with Reading, English/Language Arts. 
  • Ability to demonstrate results working in small group instruction settings with students.
  • Have a Florida Teaching Certificate or be working toward one.  
  • Previous or current experience holding a Reading Specialist credential.
