Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
KIPP Indy Public Schools seeks a self-motivated Director of Talent Recruitment (DTR) who is fueled by our mission to create opportunity-filled lives for students across Indianapolis. This person will plan and execute a strong talent recruitment strategy that focuses on implementing best practices from across the KIPP network. Reporting directly to KIPP Indy’s Chief of Talent & Equity, the DTR will build rich and diverse talent pipelines, manage the selection process, and support KIPP Indy with onboarding and retaining top talent throughout the school year. Ultimately, the DTR will lead KIPP Indy’s charge to recruit highly effective, diverse educators and to ensure that KIPP Indy is fully hired each year.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Tracking, Sourcing & Cultivation
- Track metrics related to recruitment, lead generation, cultivation, and selection
- Manage systems to track contacts made through cultivation, selection progress to date, and the next steps
- Develop and execute strong one-on-one cultivation meetings with prospects that lead to clear next steps
- Lead the network’s Referral Program, including developing investing staff, and follow through with referral engagement
- Develop and execute social media strategy for talent recruitment, collaborating with the Associate Director of Development & Communications
- Support, execute, and refine strategic national and local outreach, including but not limited to partnerships with transition to teaching programs, HBCUs, and partner organizations such as Teach for America, Indianapolis Teaching Fellows
- Develop and execute internal and external talent recruitment events, including happy hours, school tours, hiring fairs, information sessions at colleges/universities, etc.
- Identify and manage marketing of new jobs on a variety of job boards and sites
Hiring & Selection
- Develop and refine selection processes and materials for open roles
- Lead the selection process for all open roles, including application reviews, phone interviews, final interviews, and offer process
- Build relationships with applicants, remaining in contact with them throughout the selection process
- Develop a vision for the matriculation process and support execution to ensure hires are ready to start on the first day of school, including collaboration with schools and Human Resources
- Ensure all teachers are certified by developing expertise in Indiana licensing requirements, collaborating with school teams to ensure teachers are held accountable to certification steps, and tracking and reporting certification to Human Resources
Stakeholder Management
- Invest significant time to deeply understanding each school’s priorities and challenges, understanding each school’s systems and structures, and building strong relationships with staff members
- Develop strong relationships with school leadership teams and lead weekly talent meetings with School Leaders in collaboration with the Chief of Talent & Equity.
- Provide input on staffing plans, including shifting roles, succession planning, and management structures
- Build deep relationships with school leaders, acting as a strategic advisor to them and problem-solving issues as they arise
- Invest school leaders in talent recruitment goals and provide training to them to effectively execute strategies
Team Operations
- Support the Chief of Talent & Equity in the development and implementation of organizational initiatives, and strategies to advance racial equity work
- Assist in the execution of KIPP Indy’s racial equity initiative implementation including supporting in the planning and coordination of region-wide equity sessions for staff, regional leaders, and KIPP Indy’s Board of Directors.
- Coordinate with the KIPP Indy Equity Working Groups to ensure that progress is being made towards meeting all of our organization and school team racial equity goals
- Participate in the Equity Working Group and be able to speak compellingly about the organizational commitment to racial equity with an external candidate
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5 years of working experience (required)
- Track record of achieving exceptional results in prior role(s)
- Prior experience with talent recruitment, hiring, and/or teacher development preferred
- Past experience working as an educator preferred

COMPENSATION
Salary is competitive, commensurate with experience, and includes benefits. Teachers are also eligible for performance-based bonuses.
