Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Human Resources Manager to join our charter school network. As the Human Resources Manager, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive and inclusive work environment for our dedicated educators and staff. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in human resources management within the education sector and will be committed to promoting a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities
Team Management:
- Works closely with the Director of Human Resources to provide effective leadership and direction to the team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Identifies individual strengths and areas for improvement within the team and develops tailored coaching and training plans to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department
- Facilitates open and transparent communication within the team and across the organization.
- Promotes collaboration and teamwork within the team and encourages cross-functional cooperation to achieve common goals.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve team processes, workflows, and efficiency to enhance overall team performance.
- Participates in the recruitment and selection process for new team members and ensures their smooth onboarding and integration into the team.
HR Strategy and Policy Development:
- Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and align HR strategies with the charter school network's mission and goals.
- Design, implement, and update HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as best practices in the education sector.
- Develop strategies to address HR challenges, such as recruitment, retention, talent development, and employee engagement.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Employee Relations and Performance Management:
- Act as a resource for a wide range of employee issues, responding directly when possible, and redirecting or escalating as necessary.
- Provide guidance and support to school leaders in handling employee relations matters, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
- Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Provides support and guidance to HR generalists, associates, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
- Implement performance management processes, including goal-setting, performance evaluations, and professional development plans.
- Promote a positive and inclusive culture that encourages open communication and fosters employee growth and development.
Compensation and Benefits Administration:
- Collaborate with finance and talent teams to design and manage competitive compensation and benefits packages for employees.
- Ensure compliance with salary scales, salary adjustments, and benefit administration, adhering to budgetary guidelines
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with State and Federal laws and regulations; Review and keep informed about recent and changing employment related laws, guidelines and trends and recommend changes in policy/procedures.
- Compiles PEP, EEO, New Hire, and other internal and external reports as needed.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment laws and regulations relevant to the education sector, ensuring compliance across the charter school network.
- Prepare and submit required HR reports and documentation to relevant authorities as needed.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Training and Development:
- Shepherds new employees through a smooth transition into their new employment at KNOS.
- Identifies HR related professional development needs and coordinates training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
- Provide solutions for employees about certification requirements for instructional and non-instructional employees.
- Develops and coordinates the employee departure process, including coordinating their final day, return of company property, and collecting necessary paperwork.
Data Management and HRIS:
- Oversee the management and maintenance of HR data and records using an HRIS system, ensuring accuracy, security, and confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with a focus on education or non-profit sectors.
- SHRM or HRCI certification is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and other HR-related software, preferably ADP WFN.
- Proven experience in a leadership or supervisory role, preferably in an HR department.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
- Demonstrated experience in employee relations, performance management, and professional development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing successful HR strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to concentrate in active and noisy environments such as cafeterias and playgrounds, to more moderate situations such as classrooms or large group professional settings
Must be able to have repetitive wrist/hand/finger movement to work on computer and/or related office equipment
Ability to handle potential high stress conditions
