KIPP Metro Atlanta currently operates eleven KIPP schools including four primary schools, five middle schools, one K-6 school, and one high school, as well as the KIPP Forward program which supports students through college, career, and beyond. 

Job Description

KIPP Metro Atlanta is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern.  The Accounting Intern will complete activities associated with accounts payable, fixed assets, inventory, state reporting and the month/year-end close process.  By creating clear documentation of these processes, the intern will promote sustainability and repeatability for KIPP Metro Atlanta.  The Finance Intern will process and code invoices, review and reconcile vendor accounts, review and reconcile general ledger accounts, and perform other ad hoc analyses.  The Finance Intern will also assist with various other file maintenance, compliance, and reporting activities.  This position reports directly to the Controller.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Key Accounting Responsibilities Weekly/Monthly 60%

  • Complete balance account reconciliations as a part of the month end close process. 
  • Research identified aberrations in accounting data and make a recommendation for the path forward
  • Maintain fixed asset ledger, along with related fixed asset records for audit
  • Process and vendor invoices using online accounts payable system, Concur
  • Research and answer invoice inquiries
  • Track, update, and file W9’s and Certificates of Insurance
  • Provide proof of payment; process, reconcile and ensure the accuracy of transactions

 

Key Accounting Responsibilities Annually 10%

  • Assist in preparation for and responses to annual audits

 

Special Assignments and Additional Support 30%

  • Assist in development, implementation, and documentation of new or revised process to enhance departmental workflow
  • Provide additional support to all members of the Finance Accounting , as directed

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with accounting platforms preferred but not required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Highly detailed-oriented and organized
  • Team player and self-starter
  • Takes initiative to solve problems
  • Strong time management skills

Additional Information

Compensation:  $20/hour
