KIPP Minnesota Overview

Who we are: KIPP Minnesota Schools is a network of high-performing college-preparatory public charter schools. Next year, we will serve over 700 students in grades K through 2 and grades 5 through 8 at two co-located schools (primary and middle) in north Minneapolis. KIPP Minnesota Schools is a fast-growing, entrepreneurial organization with significant growth plans in the coming years.

Job Description

KIPP Minnesota is seeking exceptional P.E Teacher for the upcoming school year.

Starting Salary Tier 1 Teachers: $44,880+ (Tier 2/3/4 Teacher salary is dependent on the experience. To inquire for more details email to [email protected])

Other benefits we offer include a number of paid days off including breaks (we take a full week in November and other points throughout the school year!) plus 8 additional PTO days for Teachers.  We also have "Friday for you" (AKA an afternoon off) once per month.

POSITION OVERVIEW

 As the Physical Education Teacher you are a member of the KIPP Minnesota Instructional Team and will directly lead instruction with students. The Physical Education Teacher will plan and execute high-quality daily lessons that lead to high levels of student achievement in addition to building and supporting a school-wide culture of excellence. This is a full-time position, based at  KIPP Northstar.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement the school-wide student management policies within classrooms and everywhere on campus

  • Create and teach highly rigorous and engaging lessons in the elective area of  Physical Education.

  • Assist in the development of curriculum standards and mapping

  • Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents

  • Create a classroom environment that is warm and demanding

  • Maintain a neat, clean classroom environment and a high level of professionalism 

  • Perform morning, lunch, and afternoon duties as assigned and attend all staff meetings

  • With support from school leaders, use data to drive instructional practices to constantly improve student achievement and instruction

  • Seek to constantly develop and improve teaching practices through ongoing feedback conversations with School Leaders and other school faculty within KIPP Minnesota

Qualifications

DESIRED EXPERIENCE 

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in the educational field

  • MN teaching license in Physical Education

  • Experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated instruction. 

  • Strong classroom management skills. 

  • Effective communication skills. 

  • Ability to build successful relationships with students, parents and staff.

Highly Preferred 

  • Experience working in historically educationally underserved communities and communities of color

COMPENSATION

Salary: $44,880+

*In order to establish equitable salary practices; the compensation package is derived from the Regional KIPP Minnesota pay scale and benefits package, which includes medical, dental, life, long-term disability and retirement benefits as well as an annual salary review and revision.
