Job Description

Responsibilities of the Math Interventionist will include, but are not limited to:

Curriculum Development and Instruction

  • Adapt and execute a demanding, standards-aligned curriculum and assess students’ mastery 
  • Develop academically rigorous lessons differentiated for students in multiple Tier 2 and Tier 3 RTI math groups with the possibility of reading. 
  • Monitor the progress of students in Tier 2 and Tier 3 groups using the Aimsweb platform, and use data to inform instructional decisions
  • Provide students with daily feedback on performance in character and academics and plan for individual learning needs
  • Internalize general education reading and math lesson plans and support students in general education classes through collaborative teaching

Commitment to School and Classroom Culture

  • Work collaboratively with your school team and those across KIPP Nashville
  • Help develop school-wide culture that best fits the needs of our students, teachers and families
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings and communicate openly with staff
  • Develop positive rapport with students
  • Create and foster a positive and calm learning environment
  • Enforce, uphold, and exhibit school’s values, student management policies and culture

Family Engagement

  • Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents and share progress
  • Be available for open houses, parent teacher conferences and other events involving parents
  • Make oneself available to students, parents and other staff members

Qualifications

Desired Experience

  • Valid Tennessee teaching license in content area OR clear pathway to state certification (Required)
  • SPED certification (Preferred) 
  • Commitment to working with students from educationally under-resourced communities
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Pass Criminal Background Check
  • At least two years of teaching experience (Preferred)
  • Experience and demonstrated success teaching students from educationally under-resourced communities (Highly Preferred)
  • Experience teaching or supporting diverse learners (Preferred)

Additional Information

Compensation

Our comprehensive compensation package includes life insurance and long-term disability coverage provided by KIPP Nashville, voluntary medical and dental plans, in addition to retirement benefits and an annual salary increase. Salary will begin at $53,990 for first year teachers with a conferred Bachelor’s degree and $59,505 for first year teachers with a conferred advanced degree. Salary is commensurate with experience. To establish equitable salary practices, the compensation package is derived from the regional KIPP Nashville Public Schools pay scale. This position is exempt and will follow a 10-month schedule.
