Today, the KIPP Oklahoma network consists of KIPP Tulsa Public Charter Schools (grades 5th – 8th) and KIPP OKC Public Schools (grades PreK, Kindergarten and 5th – 8th). Job Description

Nursing Services

  • Provide direct care utilizing school health protocols and care plans established by the student's physician.
  • Administer medication to students according to board policy and physician orders.
  • Implement mandatory screening programs and complete required reports.
  • Contribute to and implement the individualized student health care plans.
  • Collaborate with campus principals, school counselors, teachers, parents, food service, and others regarding the health needs of students with health conditions.
  • Communicate with parents.
  • Collaborate with other professionals regarding implementation of health-related Individual Education Plan (IEP) or 504 items.
  • Educate faculty/staff as needed on health-related topics as directed by the Director of Student Support Services.
  • Train unlicensed staff on health-related tasks.

Clerical

  • Maintain accurate student health records (immunizations, medications, state mandated screenings).
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and documents on all students.

Compliance

  • Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, Oklahoma Department of Health, Oklahoma City County Health Department and KIPP board policy.
  • Maintain confidentiality.

Professional Development:

  • Maintain certification in CPR, First Aid, vision and hearing screening.
  • Model behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

  • Registered Nurse (RN) required.
  • Oklahoma School Nurse certification required.

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of basic first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR /First Aid/Healthcare Provider)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in keyboarding skills
  • Experience with clerical proficiency 
  • Ability to use personal computer and software to enter data and do word processing
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
  • Love and have an unwavering belief in the high potential of all children
  • Proven track record of protecting the confidentiality of scholars, staff, families, and others
  • Able to walk, run, and bend
  • Able to pick up 20 lbs
  • Pass Criminal Background Checks

 Experience

  • Minimum one-year experience in direct patient care in a hospital or a long care facility.
  • Pediatric experience is preferred but not required.
  • Bedside nursing experience preferred

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time, 10-month position with a $45,000 annual salary.  The hours are 7:30am - 4:00pm Monday - Friday.
