Job Description

Title: Lunch Monitor
Hourly rate: $10.50/hour
Schedule: 2-4 hours per day, M-F
Maximum hours worked per week would be 20

JOB OVERVIEW
KIPP Jacksonville seeks lunch monitors for our KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy campus. Each lunch monitor works a daily shift during the lunch hours of students at the school to ensure the safety and well-being of the students, staff and school facilities.

During the daily shift, the lunch monitor will supervise students by: 

  1. Ensuring that norms and expectations for the cafeteria are adhered to by using positive reinforcement, stating clear expectations for students, and following the school’s steps to manage all student behavior(s) 

  2. Maintaining the schedule for grade levels (i.e. overseeing transitions, monitoring time, giving time warnings, etc.) 

  3. Assist, as needed, to get students through the serving line

  4. Assist, as needed, to direct students to table(s) 

  5. Warmly interacting with students while they eat 

To be successful in this role, candidates should enjoy spending time with elementary students, be flexible when needed, and excel at helping a schedule to run smoothly.

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
