In the 2023-24 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating almost 3,000 students, kindergarten through eleventh grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida: 

  • KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 3rd grade, 6th - 8th grade 

  • KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

  • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

  • KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 11th grade

For the current school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work the following hours Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.

  • K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 dismissal is at 1:30pm 

  • High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School dismissal is at 12:30pm. 

Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. *This doesn’t include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

Job Description

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks to continue their career and technical program at our high school by adding a CTE instructor to the team. We seek teachers that are comfortable teaching information technology or cyber security and/or a combination of foundational coursework to students that are on their CTE track in information technology. This would be part of a three-year program that results in students gaining industry certification(s). 

While in the 2023-24 school year, KIPP Bold City High School will offer ninth through eleventh grade, as the school grows, teachers would instruct students across multiple grade levels and/or sections. They would also ideally run a club or enrichment block. 

We seek a teacher that will be committed to providing quality career and technical instruction that sets students up for college access and as such, the CTE teachers would ensure students are both exposed to rigorous and foundational information technology material and can meet the state’s industry certification examination requirements.

This position would work closely with the electives department. Teachers are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their school leader.
 

Teachers would follow the staff schedule at the high school. Please note the location of Bold City High School is located at 1440 McDuff Avenue North.

OUR CURRENT MODEL
The model for the high school will change over time as more grade levels are added. Students will have at least four "core content" classes (ELA, Social Studies, Science and Math).  Elective teachers may have a homeroom and will teach several classes in their department.

Our current compensation and benefits structure is very competitive and is commensurate with experience. 

  • Our current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field 

  • Ability to meet minimum district credentialing requirements (either through relevant experience as an information technology professional (information, networking, or cyber security) OR hold a teaching certificate in Business Education 6-12 in the state of Florida.

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least one complete year of teaching computer science(s) with experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

  • Prior experience teaching a career and technical education course
