In the 2023-24 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating almost 3,000 students, kindergarten through eleventh grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida: 

  • KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 3rd grade, 6th - 8th grade 

  • KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

  • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

  • KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 11th grade

For the current school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work the following hours Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.

  • K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 dismissal is at 1:30pm 

  • High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School dismissal is at 12:30pm. 

Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. *This doesn’t include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

Job Description

This position will be based in our regional offices in Jacksonville, FL. The position is not a remote position and would ideally start as soon as possible. This position is year-round and performs duties as assigned by their manager. Typical hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but can vary based on season.

We're looking for a Grant Accountant to provide strong project management and impeccable accounting skills in efforts of maximizing public fund dollars in our classrooms.
 
The Grant Accountant has experience managing accounting for large federal grants and with single audits. They have a background in audit and reconciliations. They're also an analytical ace, value organization and transparency, and are not afraid to challenge the status quo. They must be a team player and possess a growth mindset. This person will report to our Sr. Staff Accountant. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Reconcile federal grants across our Jacksonville region to our GL system and make sure all compliance and regulatory requirements are met
  • Works with compliance, finance, and accounting team to develop, implement and provide ongoing financial oversight to grants management operations. This will include preparing accurate and timely financial reports including budget to actuals on grants for internal management purposes.
  • Maintain records to ensure individuals that are allocated to federal grants are not overallocated.
  • Review monthly financial results and communicate with appropriate program manager (person responsible for the plan) the financial position of the program. Resolve accounting and reporting issues as necessary.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with GL Accountant and Regional Program Manager to resolve reconciling items.
  • Ensure compliance of grants with Accounting Standards and internal policies/procedures. Ensure transactions are properly recorded and agree to the grant/contract agreement, while also ensuring financial activities adhere to deliverable deadlines.
  • Understand specific grant requirements; ensure compliance on contract conditions and ensure reporting requirements are met.
  • Manage and coordinate yearly financial audits and state audits as it pertains to the Grant Management component

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of grant accounting
  • Detail-oriented: Does not let important details become forgotten. Ability to manage several detailed processes with strong management skills and ability to project plan.
  • Strong, team player and possession of customer oriented service. Be incredibly solutions-oriented, always presenting a proposed solution when encountering a roadblock.
  • Critical-thinking: ability to navigate complex and first-time accounting transactions, review and site authoritative literature.
  • Demonstrated ability to process and execute in a high-volume task environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Sage Intacct
  • Experience with K12 Education sector 
  • Experience with single audits
  • Experience with intercompany accounting
  • Ability to understand complex processes and identify and execute upon improvements

COMPENSATION

  • The starting salary range for this position is:  $47,000 - $49,000
