KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools
KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools  is part of the KIPP national network. Together with families and communities, we create joyful, academically excellent schools that prepare students with the skills and confidence to pursue the paths they choose – college, career, and beyond – so they can lead fulfilling lives and build a more just world. In the 2023-24 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating more than 2,500 students, kindergarten through eleventh grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida: 

• KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 3nd grade, 6th - 8th grade 

• KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

• KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

• KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 11th grade

For the current school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work the following hours Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.

• K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 dismissal is at 1:30pm 

• High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School dismissal is at 12:30pm. 

Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. *This doesn’t include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

If you are a certified candidate that signs a Lead Teaching offer to join our Team & Family for the 2023-24 school year before June 30, 2023, you could be eligible for a $2500 signing bonus! We’re offering signing bonuses for:

• K-2 teachers who are Reading endorsed
• 3rd grade – 11th grade math teachers
• 5th grade – 11th grade science teachers

Signing bonuses will be paid out in two installments (December 2023 and June 2024) to those who complete their year of teaching with KIPP Jax in one of the above areas. 

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks high school teachers for our science classrooms for the 2023-24 school year. Teachers will be responsible for at least one subject area and are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their school leader.

KIPP Bold City's vision is to be a high school built on student voice and choice. Bold City offers a variety of options for its students- including honors classes, Advanced Placement classes for all, and career/technical education. Classes are chosen based on student and family interest. As the school grows, we seek to add more career tracks as well as Dual Enrollment. We also offer a variety of extracurriculars and sports to students. We seek teachers that are aligned to our philosophies around student voice and choice and are flexible to meet the interest areas of students.

Please note the location of Bold City High School is the McDuff campus located at 1440 McDuff Avenue North. 

OUR CURRENT MODEL

The model for the high school will change over time as more grade levels are added and the model is subject to change. Students have a seven period bell schedule. Core content areas at the high school level include science, history, ELA, and math. High school lead teachers will likely have a homeroom class and teach several classes in their subject area. While this is a typical teaching load, some teaching loads may vary. 

Any electives are selected by the school leader according to student interest and teacher certification area(s). Foreign language and elective teachers should apply through a separate posting. 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Our current compensation and benefits structure is competitive and is commensurate with experience. 

• Our current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000

• To support teacher practice and their growth, all lead teachers receive individualized coaching and professional development.

***This offering is subject to change for the 2023-24 school year. Terms would be outlined in an offer letter, if issued.

• Bachelor's Degree

• Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification in one of the following areas:

  • Middle Grades Science 5 - 9 

  • Physics 6 -12

  • Biology 6 - 12 

  • Chemistry 6 -12 

• At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Certifications in a 6-12 content area

• Florida Reading Endorsement (or reading competency coursework in progress) 

• ESOL Endorsement

• Two or more years of secondary teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

• Experience with teaching honors level or AP level courses in a high school
