KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools  is part of the KIPP national network. In the 2022-23 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region is comprised of four schools educating 2,500 students, kindergarten through tenth grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida: 

• KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 2nd grade, 5th - 8th grade 

• KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 7th grade 

• KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

• KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 10th grade

For the 2022-23 school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work the following hours Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.

• K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 dismissal is at 1:30pm 

• High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School dismissal is at 12:30pm. 

Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. *This doesn’t include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

Position Overview    

This position is at KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy located at our McDuff campus. 

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks an academic interventionist to support our 6th - 8th grade students in reading. The interventionist focuses on supporting students as an extra layer of support beyond their core academic instruction. The interventionist role includes, but is not limited to, pulling small groups, tracking academic progress, ensuring students are accessing blended learning pieces that support their growth, partnering with classroom teachers to ensure student interventions are effective, and other duties as assigned.

All teachers are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing our curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with our families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their School Leader. 

Depending on the grade levels the interventionist works with, the model and schedule can vary slightly.

Our compensation is competitive and is commensurate with experience 

• Our current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000

Requirements of the position include:

• Bachelor's Degree 
• Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Equivalent (Middle Grades 5-9 ELA)
• Reading Endorsement
• At least one year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

Highly Preferred Qualifications          

• Ability to demonstrate results from small group instruction
• ESOL endorsement
• Additional certification in ESE K-12 
• Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
