Job Description

The Opportunity

The Director of Employee Relations is responsible for all aspects of Employee Relations for KIPP Texas Public Schools, a 4,600- employee organization.  This Director will also be responsible for planning, developing, implementing and promoting activities and programs that enhance overall employee engagement, communication and relations while overseeing the compliance of company employment policies and practices with relevant employment regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and drive philosophies and programs to foster constructive employee relations and ensure the organizations' approach to its employees is fair, respectful and consistent;
  • Reduce risks by developing programs, policies and procedures to promote fair and equitable employee relations and business decisions;
  • Ensure employment policies and practices comply with relevant employment regulations;
  • Partner with and advise management and leadership on employee relations issues;
  • Receive, evaluate and respond appropriately to employee concerns in a timely manner;
  • Conduct investigations of complaints and recommend corrective actions;
  • Oversee, review and advise on the employee grievance and disciplinary processes;
  • Serve as a Title IX investigator
  • Respond to, manage and resolve conflict.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors' degree in Human Resources, Employee Relations or related field;
  • Solid working knowledge of the principles and practices of employee and labor relations;
  • In-depth knowledge and application of federal, state and local labor and employment law and regulations;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to prioritize work and to efficiently address responsibilities of competing priorities;
  • Ability to pay attention to details;
  • Hold sound judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze and resolve issues;
  • Ability to treat each issue with discretion, integrity and confidentiality;
  • HR certification preferred.
