KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools  is part of the KIPP national network. In the current school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region is comprised of four schools educating around 2,500 students, kindergarten through tenth grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida: 

  • KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 2nd grade, 6th - 8th grade 

  • KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 7th grade 

  • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

  • KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 10th grade

For the current school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work the following hours Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.

  • K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 dismissal is at 1:30pm 

  • High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School dismissal is at 12:30pm. 

Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. *This doesn’t include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

Job Description

KIPP Jacksonville seeks a Manager of Marketing and Communications. The Manager of Marketing and Communications (MoMC) furthers our mission by serving as the champion of external storytelling and internal communications.  The MoMC helps strategize and execute on a high-quality marketing plan, execute internal communications plans, and builds a vibrant organizational brand in the local community. The ideal candidate for this position will have a deep passion for social justice and educational equity for all children, extensive marketing experience and strong project management skills.

The Manager of Marketing and Communications  will focus primarily in the following areas:
(1) Execution of external marketing plan to strengthen brand recognition in the local community, including marketing/advertising efforts for student/teacher recruitment efforts
(2) Support the Chief of External Affairs with internal communications structures
(3) Design and utilize internal and external print items, signage, and swag, video production
(4) Manage all social media platforms

The Manager of Marketing and Communications reports to and supports the Chief External Affairs Officer to execute on a larger communications strategy. They work closely with the KIPP Chief External Affairs Officer  to create internal communications structure as well as designing key items for communication strategies 

Success would be measured by impact of branding and marketing plans for student recruitment/teacher recruitment efforts, designing high-quality branded items that furthers KIPP Jacksonville brand recognition, social media presence and engagement, local and national news coverage, effective communication plans for students and staff.

This position is year-round and performs duties as assigned by their manager. As a member of the Shared Services Team, this individual would be responsible for doing whatever it takes to ensure that students develop the knowledge, skills, and character strengths they need to succeed throughout their education and in the competitive world beyond. Typical hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but can vary based on role and season.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Marketing Strategy

  • In collaboration with the Chief External Affairs Officer, create a branding strategy and reach campaign (social media ads, print advertisement, radio, billboards, etc.) for community recognition of KIPP Jacksonville, specifically for student and talent recruitment

    • Collaborate with key members of the Shared Services Team to gather needs and desires

    • Manage specific marketing budgets for each department in collaboration with talent and student recruitment teams

    • Ensure content from social media is aligned to marketing plan

    • Develop, grow and manage digital communications strategy including the website, e-mail campaigns, and all social media platforms
       

Internal and External Communications

  • Writing articles and press releases as part of larger marketing/communications plan

  • Developing strategy to cultivate and share op-ed pieces from staff

  • Serve as point of contact for website updates and maintenance 

  • Write and send weekly regional communications newsletters in partnership with executive leadership team

  • Support the External Relations team as it relates to communications about the annual fundraiser and other donor events

Design

  • Create regional “swag” items (t-shirts, gifts, etc.)

  • Design and create branded powerpoint decks, business cards, name plates, email signatures, etc. for staff

  • Design and create print materials (fact cards, etc.) for special events such as fundraisers or teacher recruitment events

  • Maintain photo and PR clipping archive

COMPENSATION

  • The salary range for this position is between $51,000 and $57,000 annually

  • Free individual health benefits (including medical, dental and vision)

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 3-10 years of relevant work experience in marketing and communications

  • A portfolio of design materials or printed pieces 

  • Demonstrated ability to meet ambitious deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.

  • Clear, high-quality written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong project management skills

  • Passing a background check as required by law

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in education OR non-profit

  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and all social media platforms.

  • Experience with Wordpress, Adobe Creative Suite, Constant Contact and Canva a plus
