Company Description

About KIPP NYC:

KIPP NYC Public Schools is a non-profit network of free, public charter schools that prepares students for success in college and life. In 1995 we started our first middle school, KIPP Academy, in The Bronx.  Our goal was to graduate students with the strength of character and academic abilities needed to succeed in high school, college and beyond – and in so doing, to prove what is possible for all students.  Today, our New York City network is comprised of eight elementary schools, nine middle schools, one high school, and KIPP Through College and Career, a comprehensive support program for our alumni. KIPP NYC Public Schools currently serves more than 7000 students and alumni and has a staff of more than 700 and continues to grow!

About The Culinary Team:

The KIPP NYC Culinary Team was created at KIPP College Prep High School in 2016 to provide students with tastier, healthier school lunch options. KIPP NYC realized an opportunity to leverage public funding to train staff and students to serve fresh food made from scratch in our kitchens, instead of spending money on expensive catering companies or frozen, reheated meals. Today, the Culinary Program equips students to change their mindset on food and healthy eating, one meal at a time. The Culinary Program currently serves seven KIPP NYC schools from kitchens in 3 of our buildings. The program is actively expanding to add additional schools as Satellite schools.
