In the 2023-24 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating almost 3,000 students, kindergarten through eleventh grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida: 

  • KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 3rd grade, 6th - 8th grade 

  • KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

  • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade 

  • KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 11th grade

For the 2022-23 school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work the following hours Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.

  • K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 dismissal is at 1:30pm 

  • High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School dismissal is at 12:30pm. 

Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. *This doesn’t include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

Job Description

CURRENTLY OFFERING A SIGNING BONUS FOR THIS POSITION! 

 

If you are a certified candidate that signs a Lead Teaching offer to join our Team & Family for the 2023-24 school year before June 30, 2023, you could be eligible for a $2500 signing bonus! We’re offering signing bonuses for:

  • K-2 teachers who are Reading endorsed
  • 3rd grade – 11th grade math teachers
  • 5th grade – 11th grade science teachers

Signing bonuses will be paid out in two installments (December 2023 and June 2024) to those complete their year of teaching with KIPP Jax in one of the above areas. 

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks middle school teachers for our fifth through eighth grade classrooms in the 2023-24 school year. Teachers are assigned one grade level and are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their school leader.

OUR CURRENT MODEL

There are four “home room” teachers on each grade level who are each responsible for teaching a  single core subject. (For example, there are four teachers on the 8th grade team; each staff member teaches every student on that grade level for their assigned subject.) Class size is typically about 25 students per class.

Subjects on each grade level include English Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and Science. Please note within the application your subject area preference and if you have grade level preferences. Relevant certification should also be indicated in the application.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Our current compensation and benefits structure is competitive and is commensurate with experience. 

  • Our current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification in one of the following areas: 

    • Elementary Education K-6 for positions in grades 5th or 6th OR

    • Middle Grades 5-9 in a particular content area OR

    • Secondary 6-12 in a particular content area

  • At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Florida Reading Endorsement (or reading competency coursework in progress) 

  • ESOL Endorsement (or competency coursework in progress)

  • Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom in a relevant grade level
