Job Description

The Opportunity

The Manager of CTE works to ensure that high school CTE students are properly identified in PEIMS and that CTE students have access to summer-of-learning opportunities that support their selected pathway and college and career readiness skills.  The Manager of CTE will work at the regional level to provide supervision, guidance, and technical assistance to staff working with CTE students.  The Manager of CTE will provide specific assistance and connections for senior level CTE students to participate in career-related internships and work-based learning experiences.  In addition, the Manager of CTE will perform instructional duties that are supplemental to compliance, such as conducting observations to identify trends, planning and executing professional development, providing resources and guidance to CTE teachers, school administrators, and KIPP Texas academic leadership.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

System Level

  • Identify and manage external partnerships to provide CTE internships and work-based learning, including paid or unpaid student experiences. 
  • Development partnerships to include travel for internships during the fall and spring semesters.  
  • Ensure full state compliance in work-based learning programs.
  • Ensure that all CTE students are properly identified and coded in PEIMS. 
  • Assist with certification and dual credit opportunities for CTE career programs and Career Clusters
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of CTE pathways. 
  • Plan and communicate implementation plan for regional SOL program, leading to SOL placements for CTE students. 
  • Connect with KTC Career Integration Specialist to maximize workforce partnerships and student placements. 
  • Stay current on all state and federal required mandates associated with CTE program, attending state trainings on program changes. 
  • Monitor all data associated with CTE students, including ACT, EOC, and TELPAS results as they effect growth goals and accountability.  
  • Work with team members on activities and projects related to Career and Technical Education and Regional improvement targets and goals.
  • Manage applicable grants. 

School Level

  • Provide quarterly updates to School Leaders regarding student placement for internships, work-based learning, and SOL participation. 
  • Ensure development of reporting tool to monitor students in SOL participation.
  • Provide technical assistance to schools in relation to developing and/or revising career pathways including industry certifications or credentials, articulated credit and dual credit.
  • Coordinate with campus administrators, Dept. Chairs to develop and improve the CTE programs assigned
  • Coordinate and assist middle school campuses with CTE career assessments and development of career programs of study 

Supplemental Instructional Duties

  • Conduct CTE observations and provide feedback to teachers that will enhance their lessons and ensure the continued growth and development of ELL students.
  • Provide instructional support for the CTE program. 
  • Plan and execute professional development sessions at the regional and school level as a supplement to teacher development to work with CTE students.
  • Conduct parent and family events to create opportunities for families of CTE students to become aware of work-based learning and internships. 
  • Seek and provide instructional resources to teachers, school and regional leaders that go beyond what is required by law.

Qualifications

Education and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Certified teacher with CTE or work-based learning experience
  • Preferred experience and network with workforce and industries
