Job Description

KIPP Miami seeks Ops Assistant as we expand our team and family. Ops Assistant should expect to spend 55% of their time working in a team to perform routine cleaning, facility maintenance, and handy tasks, 10% of their time on emergency requests and security, and 35% on other duties as assigned. This position is part-time. 

  • Open gates, building and be one of the first and last Ops Team members on campus 
  • During walkthroughs and general building time, pay attention to and fix messiness in hallways (borders, boards, missing posters, marks on walls, etc), daily 
  • Walk the building to check that teacher workroom cleanliness expectations are being met, daily 
    • Workrooms should have an appropriate stock of all materials. There should be a regular clean-out of all fridges in the building. Walk all classrooms, stock classrooms, common areas, and bathrooms. Ensure cleanliness of the entire campus.  Pick up trash.
  • Walk the building to check bathroom and exterior (play area, parking lot, doors, etc.) safety and cleanliness expectations are being met, daily 
    • Complete daily bathroom log and raise issues with ADSO  
  • Manage the day-to-day cleaning routine and any other facilities-related matters that may arise  
  • Schedule and manage all inspections and preventative maintenance (HVAC, Fire Alarm, Sprinkler, Suppression, Extinguisher, etc.) 
  • All closet spaces are organized and well maintained.  
  • All supplies inventoried and labeled.   
  • All supply requests given to ADSO, timely.   
  • Keep all shared staff spaces orderly, clean and well maintained. 

Other duties as assigned 

Specific duties, working in a team to perform other duties as assigned, include but are not limited to: 

  • Maintain orderly lost and found.
    • Throw away/donate lost and found, monthly 
  • Receiving: receive packages and ensure packages are not visible to visitors, not in the main office and placed in the appropriate receiving space (workroom) for no more than 24 hours.  
  • Label packages for delivery.   
  • Ensure packages are opened or delivered to appropriate parties.  
  • Work under the management and supervision of the ADSO.   
  • Assist with other projects for the Operations team as needed/requested and complete within deadlines. Tasks can include, building furniture, installing, light patching, painting, etc. 

Other duties as assigned 

Specific duties, working in a team to perform security duties and emergency requests, include but are not limited to: 

  • Assist during our arrival, breakfast, lunch and dismissal.  Tasks can include, setting up areas, providing supervision, assisting with student arrival or dismissal, etc 
  • Check-in tardy students 
  • Ensure visitors are checked-in appropriately using our visitor system 
  • Afterschool pick-up: ability to assist SOM and communicate with families whose students are not picked-up on-time

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Reliability: On time to work every day. Absences are very rare and communicated in advance to supervisors. 
  • Energy: Motivated to work hard, with purpose and efficiently during shift. 
  • Responsibility: Ability to work independently, but also demonstrate flexibility in a team setting. 
  • Meets deadlines 
  • Team Player: Maintain a positive attitude and listen respectfully to others

HIGHLY PREFERRED

  • Floor tech experience or building maintenance experience 
  • Experience: Previous success working as a custodian, maintenance tech or security in school or public settings.
