Job Description

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools Jacksonville seeks a full time, salaried substitute for our schools. The in-house substitute at each of our schools will provide coverage when teachers are absent, on leave, exit, or reporting elsewhere. In most cases, this position will fill in for one teacher consistently. In the event that is not the situation, they could be pulled to fill in other absences, sub elsewhere on the campus, prepare for upcoming sub days, or other administrative tasks as assigned. 

Substitutes will have an instructional coach/manager that will help them prepare and/or execute high-quality lesson plans. They are expected to maintain high expectations for both behavior and academics in the classroom, and communicate with the team to ensure a smooth transition in classrooms. 

This position would start July 18th, 2022 and run through the whole 2022-23 school year.

For the 2022-23 school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work from 7:30 am. - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Student hours are typically  8am - 3:30pm. Staff hours vary slightly at each of our K-8 schools. Staff hours at the high school are 6:30am - 3:30pm and student hours are 7:00am - 2:30 pm. Every Wednesday is a student early release day (1:30 pm dismissal for K-8 and 12:30pm dismissal at the high school), which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development.

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team of teacher

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Clear path to obtaining a Florida Teaching Certification 

  • Teaching experience in an urban public school or charter school setting
