KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks elementary ELA teachers for our upper elementary classrooms in the 2022-23 school year. Teachers are assigned one grade level and are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their school leader.

For the 2022-23 school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools (K-8) will work from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Student hours are typically 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Every Wednesday is a student early release day (1:30 p.m.), which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development.

OUR CURRENT MODEL FOR 3RD, 4TH, 5TH, AND 6TH GRADE

All lead teachers are departmentalized. A single lead teacher in each classroom is responsible for teaching specific subjects (e.g. only Reading). Class size is approximately 26 students. In this model, most teachers plan for one subject and teach lessons to multiple cohorts of students. 

Please note that while fifth and sixth grade are considered part of our middle school model, you don't have to fill out a separate middle school teacher application. If you're open to being considered for multiple grade levels, please make note of that in this application.

Our current compensation and benefits structure is very competitive and is commensurate with experience. 

• Our current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree

• Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification (Elementary Education K-6 or Middle Grades English 5-9)

• At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Florida Reading Endorsement (or reading competency coursework in progress)

• Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom in an elementary grade level
