Job Description

The Opportunity

The KIPP Forward Team exists in our four regions within KIPP Texas Public Schools. The current work with KIPP Forward is focused on the successful support and partnerships for our KIPPsters to be prepared to matriculate to the college and/or career option of their choice. As such, the KIPP Forward team will also take on developing a career readiness strategy to support all of our KIPPsters.

KIPP Texas believes we can better support our students and alumni by operating KIPP Forward statewide. Thus, we are seeking a visionary, strategic leader to establish how we work as a statewide team. The KIPP Texas Managing Director of Post Secondary Success will be responsible for the development and execution of a centralized, statewide KIPP Forward strategy.

Key strategic opportunities are:

  • Maximizing the college enrollment and college success rates of KIPPsters across the state
  • Developing an integrated college and career success strategy that affirms all KIPPsters on their paths to postsecondary and career success
  • Strengthening and reimagining our approach to postsecondary support to ensure our model scales in a financially sustainable way as the number of KIPP Texas alumni grows

In addition, the KIPP Texas Managing Director of Post Secondary Success will be responsible for working with other KIPP Texas statewide and regional leaders, ensuring close coordination between KIPP Texas high schools and KIPP Forward teams, building strategic partnerships, and implementing rigorous progress monitoring processes to improve KIPP Forward performance.

The KIPP Texas Managing Director of Post Secondary Success will: lead a team of four regional KIPP Forward Directors, who in turn supervise a statewide team who manage regional staff; manage and develop the KIPP Forward Director team; and maintain strong relationships to ensure robust collaboration statewide. The KIPP Texas Managing Director of Post Secondary Success will directly report to the Deputy Chief of School Leadership and KIPP Forward.

This position may be based out of the Austin, Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio offices.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Develop, execute, and aggressively monitor a short and long-term KIPP Forward strategy to ensure that our alumni are graduating their post-secondary education within ideal time  and preparing for a career that will support alumni in leading fulfilling lives
  • Collaborate with the KIPP Texas Strategy and KIPP Forward Teams/Regional Directors to develop a strategic plan to scale services as alumni population growths exponentially
  • Set annual goals focused on post-secondary match, persistence and completion, career readiness, and talent development/retention and support KIPP Forward directors in achieving said goals
  • Collaborate with KTX academic leadership team to align on statewide college counseling structure and curriculum.
  • Work alongside with the Data team to review results; set metrics for the state and region and utilize data to plan programming.

Team Leadership

  • Manage, coach, and develop Regional KIPP Forward/Postsecondary Success Directors in each of our four regions
  • Build and nurture a high performing leadership team that produces excellent outcomes for our students and alumni
  • Plan and lead quarterly professional development for KIPP Forward teammates across KIPP Texas

Partnership Management

  • Establish, negotiate, maintain and assess current strategic college partnerships (2 and 4 year) to ensure that KIPP Texas alumni are enrolled in colleges where they are likely graduate from
  • Establish and manage state-wide career partnerships that support students and alumni career exposure, experiences and development, in addition to multiple pathways for our students and alumni

External Stakeholder Management

  • Support the KIPP Texas Development team on grant proposals and reports focused on KIPP Forward programming and support
  • Share knowledge and expertise across KIPP Texas on topics relating to college completion and career success; this includes advising school leaders and other regional/organizational leaders, and presenting to large and small groups of KIPP Texas

Board Management

  • Provide Board of Directors with quarterly reports focused on progress towards annual goals and present to the Board of Directors annually
  • Lead and facilitate KIPP Forward  board committee meetings in collaboration with the KIPP Texas Development team

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience working with first-generation, low income and/or underrepresented students
  • Successfully leading and managing a large, high performing team

  • A car for travel to KIPP Texas schools throughout the state and colleges and partnership institutions
  • Ability to travel occasionally and other out of state training and PD

Compensation and Benefits:

In addition to a competitive salary scale, a part of KIPP Texas’ competitive benefits options, KIPP offers all employees an $0 HMO plan for the employee only.
