Job Description

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks Learning Specialists (LS) for the 2022-23 school year. The LS focuses on ensuring that KIPP Jacksonville is in compliance with all Individual Education Plans (IEPs), teaching small groups of students, providing support facilitation in general education settings, and working with families around the special education process. The LS will work typically with multiple grade levels and will help facilitate the RtI process with staff. The LS will facilitate regular meetings around student IEPs and will work directly with students to ensure their IEP goals are met.

All Learning Specialists are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing our curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with our families, and other duties as assigned.  Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their School Leader.

For the 2022-23 school year,  teachers at KIPP Jacksonville (K-8) work from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  High school teacher hours are 6:45a.m. - 3:30p.m. Monday through Friday . Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development.

Depending on the grade levels the LS works with, the model and schedule can vary slightly.

Our current compensation and benefits structure is very competitive and is commensurate with experience. 

  • Our current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree   

  • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification (ESE K-12)

  • At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS   

  • Florida Reading Endorsement (or reading competency coursework in progress)

  • Additional certifications in K-6 or other subject area the LS supports in

  • Two or more years of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
