Job Description

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks an instructor for our middle school math lab. This teacher focuses on supporting students as an extra layer of support beyond their core mathematics instruction.

The teacher’s role is to pull groups of students, track academic progress, and ensure students are accessing the blended learning pieces that support their academic growth. In addition, they will prepare lessons that reflect best practices and accommodations for individual differences of students.

The math lab instructor will run their own classroom of students  as part of the specials block of the school day. They will see every student across the middle school grade levels (5-8) and will provide both enrichment and intervention. Whole group instruction is part of the block, but this teacher will also be expected to pull small groups, facilitate students’ use of instructional technology platforms, and assist students with monitoring math growth goals. They will assess student learning through observations, authentic performance, and more formal methods, in an ongoing manner, providing frequent student feedback, information to parents and written progress reports.

All teachers are responsible for creating a positive environment for their students, implementing and/or creating curriculum, assessing students, building relationships with our families, collaborating with their team and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their School Leader.

For the 2022-23 school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools (K-8) will work from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Student hours are typically 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Every Wednesday is a student early release day (1:30 p.m.), which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development.

OUR CURRENT MODEL

The specials schedule is subject to change and can vary from school to school. The specials team consists of up to seven teachers for the entire school, depending on the size of the school. Each specials teacher instructs students across multiple grade levels.

Depending on the specials area subject, the teacher may travel to classrooms or have students transition to their own classroom space. Class size is typically ~26 students and typically a teacher will see a class about twice per week in a given rotation.
