Job Description

KIPP Nashville Collegiate High School invites outstanding educators to apply for the position of College Readiness Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. Collegiate teachers will possess a deep passion for instruction and an enthusiasm for rigorous development in the honing of their craft.  In addition to weekly professional development and team planning meetings, teachers receive consistent high-impact coaching and feedback from a school administrator, as well as opportunities to be a coach themselves. The College & Career readiness instructor will focus their lessons in the areas important for life post high school. Topics will include: financial literacy, career pathway planning, college wish list creation, college application submission, standardized test preparation, race and higher education, socio-emotional preparation for the college transition etc. 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepare and deliver high quality lessons in the areas mentioned above using our College & Career Readiness curriculum.

  • Create a positive classroom culture that is inclusive of all students and all pathways.

  • Assist students in submitting high quality college applications. 

  • Use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.

  • Collaborate with the school team in planning meetings, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions.

  • Maintain impeccable data and organizational skills.

  • Assist students in discovering their careers of highest aspiration and matching pathway programs. 

  • Assist students in writing and editing high quality college application essays. 

  • Assist students and families in completing the FAFSA and other state financial aid documents. 

Qualifications

Desired Experience

  • Bachelors’ degree required

  • Valid Tennessee teaching license required

  • 1+ years of teaching or student teaching experience in the 9-12 grade setting required

  • Experience and demonstrated success teaching students from educationally under-resourced communities (Highly Preferred)

  • Experience teaching or supporting diverse learners (Preferred)

  • Personal finance background (Preferred)

  • Spanish proficiency (preferred)

Additional Information

Compensation

Our comprehensive compensation package includes life insurance and long-term disability coverage provided by KIPP Nashville, voluntary medical and dental plans, in addition to retirement benefits and an annual salary increase. Salary will begin at $50,898 for first year teachers with a conferred Bachelor’s degree and $56,078 for first year teachers with a conferred advanced degree. Salary is commensurate with experience. To establish equitable salary practices, the compensation package is derived from the regional KIPP Nashville Public Schools pay scale. This position is exempt and will follow a 10-month schedule.
