The Opportunity

At KIPP Columbus, we recognize the critical importance of executing a rigorous curriculum that prepares our students to complete grade level assignments. To that end, our team is accepting applications for the Manager of Curriculum and Instruction.  The Manager of Curriculum and Instruction is a key member of the school leadership team and will be responsible for creating an environment that leads students to achieve demonstrable results. In conjunction with the School Leader, the Manager of Curriculum and Instruction will set school academic priorities, support short and long term academic planning, and track progress to school and regional goals.

Job Description

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate the assessment schedule and oversee state testing processes.
  • Support leaders in planning to deliver high-quality instruction.
  • Create End of Module and Interim Assessments for grade levels 2-5. 
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a rigorous, college preparatory curriculum including a vertical scope and sequence aligned to state standards and assessment processes.
  • Manage school around curriculum and instruction, data analysis, and culture of achievement.
  • Identify and develop professional development opportunities for staff members to continuously improve their craft.
  • Oversee curriculum, data, and assessment. 
  • Direct the school's standards based assessment strategies and systems in order to support a data-driven culture where assessments are used to increase learning and support all students.
  • Assess the efficacy of curriculum and interventions, vet new programs/resources, oversee implementation of curriculum and interventions, and make recommendations as needed (including special education).
  • Run data analysis and content team meetings with the team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university 
  • Minimum of three years of successful, full-time, lead teaching experience in low-income communities.
  • Minimum of three years of experience leading and/or coaching teachers, including but not limited to, roles such as Assistant School Leader, Dean, Instructional Coach, Assistant Principal, Principal etc.
  • Current Ohio Teaching License strongly preferred or willingness and ability to pursue certification by start date
  • Strong track record of results and leadership in a school setting.
  • Experience in analyzing student data and using data to inform instruction.
  • Belief that outstanding school leaders, staff, and teachers can achieve excellent outcomes for all students.
  • Ability to persevere with a sense of optimism, strong problem solving skills, and desire to learn and grow in a collaborative professional learning community.
  • Willingness, and commitment, to go above and beyond to prove the possible with students.
  • Ability to multi-task and work within an ambiguous, fast-moving, start-up environment, while driving toward clarity and solutions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Extreme flexibility, with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate high levels of responsibility and multiple priorities.
