Job Description
The responsibilities of the Associate Dean of Students include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities
Work closely with the Dean of Students to establish a positive, structured, and achievement-oriented school culture
Facilitate teacher training and support around discipline, relationships, expectations, consistency, and management
Support a school-wide discipline system with meaningful incentives and consequences
Coordinate and support recognition assemblies, parent workshops, community events, and other culture-building activities
Support teachers in building relationships with students and parents; implement parental involvement plan
Supervise school entry, breakfast, lunch, transitions, dismissal, and detention to ensure they are orderly and positive
Refine systems to ensure all students have excellent attendance and arrive at school on time
Refine systems to ensure all students have excellent homework completion and that homework is checked efficiently
Ensure that the physical environment of the school reinforces school culture and facilitates student achievement
Ensure effective field lessons, school events, and extracurricular activities
Model KNCHS core values and character strengths at all times
Assist the Founding Dean of Students, teachers, students, and parents in the creation and implementation of support plans for struggling students
Reinforce the effective use of the school-wide behavior plan, including the school’s merit and rubric systems
Monitor behavioral pull-out and in-school suspensions
Maintain accurate student discipline records; document conferences, suspensions, and phone calls for behavior
Communicate clearly and promptly with teachers, families, and students when discipline issues occur
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
Commitment to working with students from educationally under-resourced communities
Bachelor’s degree required Master's Degree preferred
Pass Criminal Background Check
Demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of traditionally under-served students (Highly Preferred)

Additional Information
Our comprehensive compensation package includes life insurance and long-term disability coverage provided by KIPP Nashville, voluntary medical and dental plans, in addition to retirement benefits and an annual salary increase. To establish equitable salary practices, the compensation package is derived from the regional KIPP Nashville Public Schools pay scale. This position is exempt and will follow a 10-month schedule.
