Job Description

The Social Worker will work with students to set social emotional goals and will develop differentiated plans for supporting the students in meeting these goals. They will create a schedule for meeting with individual students and groups of students and monitor and share out student progress. The social worker will also ensure that we are in compliance regarding social emotional services mandated by students’ Individualized Education Plans.
 
Social Workers will be expected to set and achieve weekly self-selected “micro-goals” for professional growth. To support them in their work, they will have several weeks of summer professional development and ongoing bi-weekly PD and a dedicated coach who will meet with them and provide feedback on a weekly basis. They will also a part of a grade team and will regularly observe, support and learn from their colleagues.

Responsibilities
Student Support:

  • Set social emotional goals with students.
  • Create differentiated plans to support students towards goals.
  • Create and maintains a schedule to regularly meet with individuals and groups of students.
  • Ensure compliance with Social Emotional services mandated by IEPs
  • Builds relationships with community organizations and serves as the point person in the school for connecting families and students with resources as needed.

Team-Oriented Leadership:

  • Support a strong team culture by upholding norms through modeling and candid conversations.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and support team accountability of each team member for meeting goals, metrics, and action items.
  • Lead grade team in one focus area, making decisions, and driving it forward.
  • Participate in duties required for supporting school operations.

Culture of Growth & Ownership:

  • Model the school’s values of purpose, honor, struggle, voice and love everyday
  • Build and maintains relationships with families
  • Supports students in planning and executing bi-weekly presentations of learning for their family.

Coaching and Development:

  • Manage her/his ongoing development through the creation and achievement of weekly micro-goals based on observation feedback
  • Observe teammate’s class for 10 minutes 3x/week

Qualifications

Must Haves:

  • MSW required, LCSW highly preferred.
  • CSSW required.
  • 1-2 years’ experience in counseling and working with adolescents and families
  • Knowledge of community social service resources and how to access them
  • Understanding of current rules and regulations regarding child study teams, special education assessments and program requirements
  • Unwavering commitment to our students and their success
  • Ability to communicate clearly and to invest stakeholders in student goals
  • Ability to establish relationships with students and families at all costs
  • Solution orientation and ability to bring a new lens to challenging problems
  • A high level of organization skills and attention to detail
