• KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten – 8th grade
• KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 10th grade

KIPP Jacksonville aims to have a strong teacher talent pipeline and will work with any paraprofessionals that are interested in pursuing teacher certification to transition to instructional roles the following school year. 

POSITION SUMMARY
KIPP Jacksonville seeks paraprofessionals to support our primary classrooms. The paraprofessional will be assigned one classroom in grade levels K-2 where there is a lead teacher. Paraprofessionals support the teacher during the regular school day and are under the direct supervision of a classroom teacher.

Paraprofessionals will conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher to support students in small groups and assist with the preparation and/or implementation of differentiated instruction. Paraprofessionals will support the classroom by helping students with morning/arrival routines or dismissal routines, transitioning and supervising students at lunch or recess, and prepping materials used for instruction in the classroom. Paraprofessionals will receive feedback from both their classroom teacher and the school’s administration team. 

For the 2022-23 school year, paraprofessionals at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools (K-8) will work from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Student hours are typically 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Every Wednesday is a student early release day (1:30 p.m.), which allows paraprofessionals to participate in weekly professional development.

While KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools does employ some paraprofessionals in the standard model, we are aiming to expand the number of paraprofessionals in our primary classrooms with grant funding. Most paraprofessionals will be  temporary in that the role is 100% grant funded by the ESSER II or III allocation. While it is possible funding for this position may be allocated in future years, it is now only funded by this specific grant through June 30, 2024.

The updated model with additional paraprofessionals will allow every K-2 classroom with one lead teacher and no teaching fellow to have a paraprofessional assigned to their classroom. Classrooms where there is a lead teacher and a teaching fellow will not have a paraprofessional. 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Paraprofessionals will be paid on a 12 month schedule, similar to teachers

• Associate’s Degree (Highly Qualified Status)

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Experience working in an urban public school or charter school setting as a paraprofessional, a substitute, a tutor, or a similar role
• Experience working with students at the elementary level
• A long-term desire to be an educator
