Job Description 

KIPP Kansas City is seeking a part time contracted person to establish a library at our Kindergarten through 8th grade school campus. This person will be responsible for curating our current library resources (including getting rid of outdated/low interest books and making recommendations for new purchasing). As well as creating and maintaining a system that enables regular and easy access to books for students. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Organize and manage all library materials 

  • Evaluate library inventory needs 

  • dispose of out of date/low interest materials

  • Repair books requiring repair. 

  • make order recommendations for new materials

  • Ensure the library is attractive, organized, safe, and conducive to learning

  • Ensure that materials are in good condition and accessible to students (easy to locate and appealing to read) 

  • Create a check out system to manage students regularly accessing books

Qualifications

Qualifications/Skills 

  • Passion for and knowledge of child and young adult literacy, particularly texts that affirm diverse identities 

  • 2+ years of relevant experience

  • Degree in Library Science is preferred, knowledge of library science is required

  • Strong project management skills 

  • Abilify to work independently with minimal supervision

Additional Information

Compensation

  • Work hours are flexible as long as agreed on milestones are met. 
  • Anticipated Hours: 50 to 80 hours to be completed by April 2022. 
  • Compensation: $25 - $30 per hour depending on experience
