Job Description

KIPP Jacksonville aims to have a strong teacher talent pipeline and will work with any paraprofessionals that are interested in pursuing teacher certification to transition to instructional roles the following school year. 

POSITION SUMMARY
KIPP Jacksonville seeks paraprofessionals to support our primary classrooms. The paraprofessional will be assigned two classrooms – one in kindergarten and one in first grade. The paraprofessional will split their time to allow them to be in one classroom for half the day and then transition to the other classroom for the other half of their day.

Paraprofessionals support the teacher during the regular school day and are under the direct supervision of a classroom teacher. Paraprofessionals will conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher to support students in small groups and assist with the preparation and/or implementation of differentiated instruction. Paraprofessionals will support the classroom by helping students with morning/arrival routines or dismissal routines, transitioning and supervising students at lunch or recess, and prepping materials used for instruction in the classroom. Paraprofessionals will receive feedback from both their classroom teacher and the school’s administration team. 

For the 2021-22 school year, paraprofessionals at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools (K-8) will work from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Student hours are typically 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Every Wednesday is a student early release day (1:30 p.m.), which allows paraprofessionals to participate in weekly professional development.

  • Associate’s Degree (Highly Qualified Status)

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience working in an urban public school or charter school setting as a paraprofessional, a substitute, a tutor, or a similar role
  • Experience working with students at the elementary level
  • A long-term desire to be an educator
