POSITION OVERVIEW 
KIPP Public Schools Jacksonville seeks a high school teacher for our founding 9th grade class. Teachers are initially assigned one subject area and are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their school leader.

For the 2021-22 school year, teachers at KIPP Bold City High School will work from 6:45a.m. - 3:45 p.m. Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Student hours will be 7:15 a.m. - 2:30p.m.  Every Wednesday is a student early release day (12:30 p.m.), which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development.

OUR CURRENT MODEL

The model for the high school will change over time as more grade levels are added and the model is subject to change.

Students in ninth grade will have a seven period bell schedule. High school lead teachers will likely have a homeroom class, teach several classes in their subject area, and one elective section in an area they are certified to teach each school day. Teachers typically see ~100 students for their core content area. Class size is typically about 25 students per class.

This job is specifically for a social studies role that would focus on Honors World History/Geography.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree
• Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification in one of the following areas:
  • Middle Grades Social Studies 5-9. Social Science 6 -12
• At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

• Passing a background check, as required by law

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Certifications in a 6-12 content area 
• Two or more years of secondary teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom 
• Experience with teaching honors level or AP level courses in a high school
