Job Description

KIPP Public Schools Jacksonville seeks English Language Arts teacher. Teachers are initially assigned one subject area and are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their school leader.

For the 2021-22 school year, teachers at KIPP schools (K-8) work from 7:30a.m. - 4:30p.m. Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Student hours will be 8:00a.m. - 2:30p.m.  Every Wednesday is a student early release day (1:30 p.m.), which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development.


OUR CURRENT MODEL

In grades K and 1, all lead teachers are responsible for teaching all core contents to the same set of students each day. 

In grade 2 and up, all lead teachers are departmentalized. A single lead teacher is responsible for teaching specific subjects (e.g. only ELA) In 4th grade, one of those classes is Writing. 

Class size is approximately 26 students. In this model, most teachers plan for one subject and teach lessons to multiple cohorts of students.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification (Elementary Education K-6)
  • Florida Reading Endorsement 
  • At least one complete year of teaching experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
