About the Opportunity 

The Director of Talent Recruitment will specialize in the theory and practice of attraction of diverse, top-caliber candidates. As a leader on the KIPP Texas Talent Recruitment team, they will work with stakeholders across the organization to foster equity-driven talent attraction practices,  establish partnerships, and enact strategies to build the diversity and caliber of applicant pools. They will set the vision and direction for talent attraction, lead generation and nurturing, sourcing, and pipeline strategy; manage the recruitment team executing those strategies and related events; and ensure we build an applicant pool that reflects the diversity of our students and embodies the values of KIPP Texas Public  Schools.  

Key Duties  

  1. Vision and Direction: 

    • Articulate a theory of action for attraction of  top quality candidates who reflect the diversity of backgrounds of our students for key roles across the organization. 

    • Articulate a plan for four critical areas: 1) talent branding, 2) lead generation and nurturing, 3) sourcing, 4) and pipeline strategy. 

    • Articulate a system of data that creates visibility into strategy. Translate that data into visible insights that highlight trends, outline a plan for proactive action, and share progress with various stakeholders and internal client groups.

  2. Client Services: Provides exemplary support to their internal clients, the leaders of the hiring portfolios (particularly School Support Partners, Instructional Leadership, and general Instruction), understanding and meeting their needs for talent pools in hard to staff roles. Other duties may include: facilitating vision setting and change management conversations, articulating a service-level agreement, establishing a clear and compelling plan for the arc of the year for each recruitment season,  investing stakeholders in key actions to facilitate progress throughout the arc of the year,  providing regular updates on recruitment position using clear and accurate data, and illustrating  responsiveness to client needs to address ongoing strategic opportunities.  

  3. Team Management: Build a results-driven, mission-oriented team culture for their team of sourcers and events/brand managers by through establishing a clear vision for success; hire,  build, develop and retain strong performers; demonstrate clear, concise direction, feedback,  and coaching; hold recruiters and recruitment managers accountable for meeting targets and  adjusting course as necessary in pursuit of goals.  

  4. Team Leader: serve as a key leader on the greater KIPP Texas Talent Recruitment Team;  collaborate with fellow recruitment team leaders to enhance state-wide strategy and evolve in  service of the pursuit of 100,000 KIPPsters served in KIPP schools state-wide.  

  5. Relationship Management: Manage key partnership relationships with  external partners in service of generating and cultivating strong talent for KIPP Texas and  building and sustaining recruitment systems. Set the groundwork for and subsequently execute  partnerships – formal and informal – that support the pursuit of greater diversity and quality of  candidate pools. Implement practices for year-on-year lead nurturing of compelling potential candidates – work that will support the  continued growth of KIPP Texas in the years to come.  Manage the relationship with the KIPP Texas Marketing and Communications team to ensure campaigns are strategic, effective, and well-executed to our brand standards and employee value proposition, and aligned with KIPP Texas’ core values.

6. Drive Results: Ensure that application volume, diversity, and quality targets are met. Ensures health of long term lead nurture pipeline. Hit targets for candidates anticipated via key pipeline programs and partnerships. Ensures both internal client teams and recruiters  are set up for success with concrete, actionable plans. Hold self and others accountable for progress to goals and adjust course  as necessary to ensure goals are met.  Reports progress regularly and concisely explains insights and forthcoming actions.

Additional Responsibilities and Duties  

  1. Provide exemplary support to organizational leaders as their recruitment strategy  and talent attraction expert. 

  2. Maximize leads generated to ensure that we hire a diverse cohort of the strongest talent  available to meet the demand of KIPP Texas Public Schools. Coordinate with portfolio leaders to accurately  represent priority of needs and ensure leads are cultivated quickly and effectively to the point of  hire. Ensure leads are captured and nurtured  so KIPP Texas is prepared to meet future needs.  

  3. Ensure a high quality candidate experience. Facilitates best in class interactions with KIPP in all  forms of communication and interaction, such as email correspondence, phone correspondence, and virtual and in-person events.   

  4. Work with other Recruitment Team and Organizational leaders to manage the allocation of  portfolios of recruitment work to ensure KIPP Texas maximizes our resources while focusing on  roles that are critical for the school success in an evolving climate.  

  5. Serves as an organizational leader on recruitment strategy and the workforce market, providing  insight and expertise to strategic planning as well as organizational values-driven initiatives and  plans.  

  6. Operate with exemplary team spirit with eagerness to demonstrate flexibility and contribute to  the overall needs of the team as they arise.

Experience Requirements  

  • BA or equivalent relevant work experience  
  • 5 + years of managerial experience  
  • 2 + years experience leading organization or division-wide initiatives
