Job Description
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
The Director of School Transformation of KIPP Texas Public Schools oversees the work of school transformation by leading and participating in the needs assessment, improvement planning, and monitoring processes of all schools with a focus on Prove the Possible and priority schools. The Director of School Transformation serves as an advocate for the Prove the Possible and Priority campuses, communicates high expectations, a clear vision and focus on learning, a sense of urgency, assures operational flexibility, and coordinates organizational support to improve school performance while supporting the creation the organizational conditions needed for sustained school transformation.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Has knowledge of all school and/or organizational academic health requirements, board policies and procedures
Crafts a strategy for sustained transformation of Prove the Possible and Priority schools, and coordinates the implementation of the strategy while progress monitoring impact of student achievement and overall transformation of schools
Creates, implements, and oversees an early warning system to identify at-risk schools and makes recommendations to support schools with making progress towards academic health goals and in accountability ratings
Researches and recommends external partners as needed, to provide differentiated support for Prove the Possible and Priority schools that results in positive change in the school accountability ratings
Facilitates continuous improvement and ensures the participation of all relevant staff in intervention requirements.
Ensures schools are provided operational flexibility as needed to meet culture and academic goals
Possesses extensive knowledge of data analysis and process monitoring
Effectively and regularly communicates, meets, and takes an active role in problem‐solving with the state, schools and regional leaders of the schools identified for improvement
Removes organizational barriers that may hinder the improvement process
Provides support and feedback to the school leadership teams and school leader managers
Oversees the development and implementation of targeted improvement plans, and facilitates the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data to make conclusions and take timely action toward meeting academic hea;th and accountability goals
Performs other related job duties and training as assigned
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proven ability to present clear and compelling communication to internal and external stakeholders
Proven ability to run projects, meetings, and presentations that are critical to success
Proven ability to complete projects on time without deficiencies or defect
Proven leadership, team building, and problem-solving skills that are acknowledged by peers and industry professionals in areas of responsibility
Self-motivated and proven ability to work as a member of a high-performing team
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and planning skills
Strong analytical skills
Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and particularly Excel)
Ability to understand and create budgets
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy is necessary
Strong follow-up and follow-through skills are necessary
High proficiency using computers, printers, copy machines, and fax machines
Ability to creatively and effectively express KIPP’s mission and purpose
Required Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited institution
A minimum of 4 years as a school leader with proven results
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
Systems level experience in K-12
Experience in turnaround work, highly preferred

Compensation and Benefits:
In addition to a competitive salary scale, a part of KIPP Texas’ competitive benefits options, KIPP offers all employees an $0 HMO plan for the employee only. In addition to our $0 plan, KIPP provides a $600 employer contribution towards a Health Savings Account and a variety of other supplemental benefits such as Dental, Vision, Short and Long-Term Disability, Pet Insurance, Life, etc.
Funding:
The Director, School Transformation will be funded directly from the Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief (ESSER) grants awarded by the Texas Education Agency under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (ESSER II) and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ESSER III). This position will be funded solely (100%) from the ESSER II and III allocation for Direct expenses through September 30, 2023, and may continue to be funded through September 30, 2024, depending upon the availability of ESSER grant funds. At the end of the grant period this position may be eliminated unless other sources of funds are secured to maintain this position or a similar position. The employee must sign this job description acknowledging receipt of the job description and signing their acknowledgement that this position is grant funded and is temporarily aligning with the terms of the grant period.
