Job Description

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools seeks to add capacity to our electives department team with a founding Art teacher. The visual arts teacher would instruct classes of ninth and/or tenth graders  and may run additional enrichment blocks. As the school grows, the teacher would instruct students across multiple grade levels and/or sections.

We are committed to providing a quality electives department that will complement our rigorous academic program. This position will work closely with the electives department which currently offers band, physical education/health, psychology, and other enrichment classes.  Teachers are responsible for creating a positive classroom environment, implementing curriculum, assessing students, collaborating with their team, building relationships with families, and other duties as assigned. Full teacher responsibilities are ultimately outlined by their school leader.

Teachers at the high school work from 6:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Student hours are typically 7:15 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Every Wednesday is a student early release day (12:30 p.m.), which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development.

Please note the location of Bold City High School is the McDuff campus located at 1440 McDuff Avenue North. 


OUR CURRENT MODEL

The model for the high school will change over time as more grade levels are added and the model is subject to change. Students in ninth and tenth grade will have a seven period bell schedule. Elective teachers may have a homeroom and will teach several classes in their department in addition to a club or enrichment block.  Every student will get to preference what they want their elective(s) to be each school year. 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Our current compensation and benefits structure is very competitive and is commensurate with experience. 

  • Our current starting salary for a first-year lead teacher is $50,000

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Relevant Florida Teaching Certification or Eligibility for Certification in Art K-12

  • At least one complete year of teaching secondary Physical Education with experience with a proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two or more years of secondary school art education experience
