Founded in 2008 with 50 students in 5th grade, KIPP Columbus currently serves nearly 2,000 students in grades Kindergarten through twelfth. During the 2018-2019 school year, and for the third year in a row, KIPP Columbus had the highest amount of academic growth of any community school in Ohio.

Job Description

The Tier I Technician is a full-time position that supports KIPP Columbus with our technology needs. The Tier I Technician is proficient with customer service and operational technology skills, such as the repair and maintenance of Chromebooks, projectors, and printers. The Tier I Technician also supports responding to student and staff technology support, including vendor management, and solving specific software and hardware issues. 

Responsibilities of the Tier I Technician include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Acts as the first point of contact for user support

  • Provides day-to-day technical support to all users

  • Builds and configures desktop computers and laptops

  • Assists with the maintenance of print servers

  • Implements the delivery of Chromebooks hardware peripherals and computers

  • Works with hardware vendors to quickly repair or replace broken hardware products

  • Reviews, monitors, and upgrades existing PCs or installs new PCs

  • Installs and maintains software or hardware to meet user needs

  • Ensures applications delivered via the network operate effectively

  • Installs PC workstation software, patches/fixes, and upgrades

  • Identifies problems and then helps users troubleshoot these problems

Qualifications

  • Relevant technical training, Associate Degree preferred

  • A+, Microsoft Office Cert, Google Cert. – Desired

  • 1-3 years related experience

  • Working Knowledge of or experience with:

    • Microsoft Office Suite, Active Directory, and other related software

    • Chromebook hardware and Chrome OS support

    • Administrative skills for Windows 7 - 10, Microsoft Office, Norton Antivirus; Ethernet, cabling, hubs, network protocols, printers, LCDs, and multimedia presentation technologies support and wireless network support
