Job Description

The Manager of Postsecondary Outcomes for the KIPP Forward Program (formerly called the KIPP Through College program) will be responsible for ensuring that our postsecondary advising model provides guidance, support, and exposure for our students and their families as they identify and plan for the best pos-tsecondary pathway. Reporting to the Director of KIPP Forward, the Manager of Postsecondary Outcomes is an essential member of the KIPP Forward team who will work directly with students, alumni, families, and stakeholders (internally and externally). They are responsible for supporting the postsecondary persistence of KIPP Jacksonville alumni through both individual and group advising as well as programming that helps drive 2-year, 4-year, CTE, Military, and direct employment persistence factors for alumni. This position will promote KIPP Forward’s mission of supporting students to and through all postsecondary pathways while developing students’ knowledge, skills, and character. They will use a holistic and critically conscious approach to aid alumni in identifying and developing their individual strengths, interests, and opportunities.

Success for this role is measured by having monthly contact with a caseload of students, conducting fall/spring benchmarks, collection of official transcript data per semester, assisting students with completion/renewal of the FAFSA, and on-campus persistence visits with alumni. 

This role is a full-time role on the Shared Services team which supports four schools currently and is actively planning for growth in future school years. As a member of the Shared Services team, this individual would be responsible for doing whatever it takes to ensure that students develop the knowledge, skills, and character strengths they need to succeed throughout their education and in the competitive world beyond.

This position is year-round and performs duties as assigned by their manager. Typical hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but can vary based on role and season. Some travel and meetings during/after normal business hours would be required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strong Transition

  • Maintain regular outreach with KIPP Jacksonville alumni that have graduated from high school.
  • Invest in early relationship building with the Senior class during the Strong Transition process to promote early engagement with future alumni.
  • Implement effective programming and activities to support high school graduates transition to their selected postsecondary pathway.
  • Support KIPP Forward marketing and social media efforts, the planning of Promotion Ceremony, and the planning of Pennant Ceremony/Signing Day.
  • Complete Pre-College Benchmarks for alumni planning to attend 2-year and 4-year college programs.
  • Encourage alumni to sign FERPA waivers that allow us access and rights to speak with and review the student's education records maintained by the school.
  • Confirm alumni postsecondary education enrollment (2-year, 4-year, CTE, Military, Apprenticeships). 

Persistence Advising

  • Conduct fall and spring benchmark completion for alumni attending 2-year and 4- year college programs.
  • Collect fall and spring transcript information from alumni attending 2-year and 4-year college programs.
  • Assist individual students/parents with the FAFSA renewal process while in college.
  • Travel to meet with alumni on their respective campuses each month.
  • Facilitate individual student/parent meetings to review/assist in the transfer application process, when applicable.
  • Co-facilitate the implementation of the Career Knowledge and Career Success Curriculum with high school alumni.
  • Consistently collect and input all key and necessary student information into Salesforce alumni database.
  • Support the development and execution of workshop content and facilitation for current students and alumni.
  • Connect students to necessary tools and resources to push postsecondary persistence
  • Advise families when necessary to aid in the persistence of alumni.
  • Conduct an annual survey on Alumni Outcomes.

Career Advising
Note: this role operates outside of KIPP Bold City High School. 

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of CTE opportunities available to our alumni in Jacksonville and surrounding areas.
  • Assist the Director of KIPP Forward, KIPP Bold City High School Administrative team, and Shared Services team members to develop programs of study, graduation plans, certification plans, 21st Century Skills attainment to foster high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand career opportunities for students.
  • In partnership/collaboration with the KIPP Forward and KIPP Jacksonville high school team, support and assist high school students with their needs in career awareness, exploration, assessment, and exposure through different campus-wide career related opportunities.
  • Create and/or identify mentoring and networking events to connect students with professionals in different career fields that match their aspirations and future goals.
  • Guide students and alumni through a decision-making process that is aligned with their personality, interest, skills, values and strengths.
  • Support college and career partnership efforts to create career development opportunities for students and alumni.
  • Assist alumni in acquiring job search skills, such as resume writing, interviewing, and networking.
  • Connect alumni to career counseling and advising programming offered by the KIPP Alumni Network.
  • Provide academic and career counseling services with professionalism and knowledge of current job market trends.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree
  • Two (2) years of professional experience working with youth from diverse populations, underserved urban communities, and/or first-generation college students in educational and/or non-profit youth development programs
  • A commitment to equity and raising the bar to how we measure success from solely college graduation to supporting multiple postsecondary paths to success
  • Has outstanding project management skills, with an ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • A driven self-starter with a demonstrated track record of strong analytical skills as well as interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with attention to detail, accountability, and reliability
  • Desire to have knowledge and continuously learn about the landscape of higher education, college access and success for low income, first-generation and/or minority students
  • Ability to connect with people from diverse ethnic, socio-economic, and professional backgrounds
  • Flexibility to multi-task within a fast moving, entrepreneurial environment while driving toward clarity and strength-based solutions
  • A proven ability to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders across functional and organizational lines
  • Adept at tracking and managing data to drive critical decisions that aide in effectively managing time and caseload
  • Active Driver’s Licence and clean driving record
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Suite

HIGHLY PREFERRED

  • Three (3) to five (5)  years of relevant experience as outlined in the requirements section
  • Experience in a college advising setting
  • Knowledgeable or proficient at utilizing Salesforce
