Job Description

Duties and Essential Job Functions:

  1. Provides Tier 1 desktop support to teachers and staff by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing issues with Windows, iOS, and Chrome OS computers & tablets.

  2. Diagnoses and supports other technology devices, including printers, projectors, cellular phones, classroom technology equipment.

  3. Installs and troubleshoots software, including client, cloud, and network-based applications.

  4. Prepares and delivers new hardware to employees and classrooms, including imaging, configuration of desktop applications, asset tagging, and initial end-user training.

  5. Utilizes the ticketing system to receive, prioritize, and respond to support requests.

  6. Performs other related job duties and training as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Skilled in diagnosing and resolving Tier 1 technical service requests.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to communicate effectively and professionally; including, the ability to communicate technical information in a clear and understandable manner to non-technical stakeholders.

Required Education and/or Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • A.A.S. in Electronics, Computers or equivalent schooling is a plus.

Preferred Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:

  • Technical Certifications A+, Network+, Cisco Certifications, Microsoft Certifications, ITIL and CompTIA a plus.

Compensation and Benefits:

In addition to a competitive salary scale, a part of KIPP Texas’ competitive benefits options, KIPP offers all employees an $0 HMO plan for the employee only. Funding:

The IT Support Services Technician will be funded directly from the Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief (ESSER) grants awarded by the Texas Education Agency under the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (ESSER II) and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ESSER III). This position will be funded solely (100%) from the ESSER II and III allocation for direct expenses through September 30, 2023, and may continue to be funded through September 30, 2024, depending upon the availability of ESSER grant funds. At the end of the grant period this position may be eliminated unless other sources of funds are secured to maintain this position or a similar position. The employee must sign this job description acknowledging receipt of the job description and signing their acknowledgement that this position is grant funded and is temporarily aligning with the terms of the grant period.
