KIPP KC was founded in 2007 with our middle school serving grades 5-8.  In 2013 we opened our elementary school.  Today we serve 650 students in grades PreK-8, and  intend to open our High School in Fall 2021.

Building Sub - Position Overview

Every member of the Team & Family at KIPP KC plays a critical role in ensuring our students are on the path toward college, career, and beyond. Our teachers are passionate advocates for our students, working tirelessly to create a school environment that helps students thrive. As a Building Sub, you are deeply committed to educational equity, building relationships with students and families so they are safe, seen, heard, and loved. As a building sub you’re our go-to person for substitute teaching jobs, and help out by supporting students, spaces, or working on operational projects.

Core Responsibilities

  • Subbing - The most important way you help our team is by subbing on a planned or emergency basis. 

  • Student Support - Your second priority is to support students by monitoring common spaces (e.g., atrium / bathroom / hallways), lunch or recess.

  • Operational Projects - Your third priority is to help with special projects on an as needed basis, often operational in nature (e.g., inputting attendance or other data, making calls to parents, etc)

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Relentless focus on results and a commitment to teamwork

  • Punctuality, ability to meet deadlines, and ability to receive feedback openly

  • Deep commitment to educational equity and underserved communities

  • Valid Missouri Teaching license or Sub certification*

  • Ability to build relationships with students

  • Ability to set expectations, and uphold them with all students, in alignment with school vision

  • Satisfactory outcome of a background check

*Applicants currently pursuing a certification may apply before certification is received. All certifications must be acquired and on file with KIPP KC before the end of the first year of employment.

Additional Information

Hours and Pay

  • In building hours: 8:00-5:00, Monday through Friday

  • Salary is dependent on years and experience
