In the 2021-22 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating 2,000 students, kindergarten through ninth grade, in the North and Westsides of Jacksonville, Florida:

  • KIPP Impact Academy: 5th – 8th grade
  • KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten – 6th grade
  • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten – 7th grade
  • KIPP Bold City High School (new, coming 2021-22): 9th grade

For the 2021-22 school year, KIPP VOICE Academy will be located at 813 Golfair Blvd (32209). Our other three schools will operate at our main campus at 1440 McDuff Avenue N (32254).

Job Description

KIPP Jacksonville seeks a Manager of Development. The Manager of Development ( “MoD” ) furthers our mission by serving as the champion of resource development.  The MoD strategizes and executes on a high-quality development plan, manages donor relationships, and builds rich relationships with prospective donors. The ideal candidate for this position will have a deep passion for social justice and educational equity for all children, extensive executive leadership and relationship-building skills.

The MoD  will focus primarily in the following areas:
(1) Development and fundraising
(2) Donor relationships and stewardship
(3) Planning and executing one annual fundraising event

The MoD reports to and supports the Chief External Affairs Officer  to cultivate and solicit small and major gifts from individual, companies, foundations, and grants. They work closely with the KIPP Chief External Affairs Officer  to execute annual appeals and fundraising/“friendraising” campaigns.

Success would be measured by reaching fundraising goals and executing one annual fundraising event.  The MoD is a full-time role on the Shared Services team which oversees four schools currently and is actively planning for growth in future school years. As a member of the Shared Services team, this individual would be responsible for doing whatever it takes to ensure that students develop the knowledge, skills, and character strengths they need to succeed throughout their education and in the competitive world beyond.

This position is year-round and performs duties as assigned by their manager. Typical hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but can vary based on role and season

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Fundraising/Development

  • Supports and executes three annual appeal campaigns
  • Identifies new major donors and prospects to grow the donor base
  • Identifies, attracst, and maintains grants, company/foundation donations
  • Supports the Chief External Affairs Officer to annually raise  $1.2 million to support KIPP Jacksonville’s daily operations and growth plans

Event Planning

  • Plans and executes at least one local fundraising event per year
  • Coordinates communications between internal and external stakeholders for donor events (i.e. coordinating for a school visit; having students perform at an annual donor event)
  • Supports with any donor related events

Stewardship

  • Create personalized touchpoints for all major donors, including newsletters, thank-you notes, etc. 
  • Maintain and cultivate relationships with all donors
  • Manage and maintain the CRM
  • Other duties, as needed, assigned by their manager

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5 years of relevant work experience
  • A successful track record in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and potential donors 
  • Clear, high-quality written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong financial competence in budgeting and revenue goal setting 

 

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with board management or working with chief-level executives
  • Prior experience in education OR non-profit
  • Grant writing experience
  • Familiarity with the Jacksonville philanthropic community
