Job Description

The Regional Manager of Student Recruitment & Enrollment (SRM) is responsible for outreach, community engagement, and  developing and implementing an annual student recruitment plan that aligns with our organization’s student enrollment goals during a period of rapid expansion.  This person will manage and develop a team of Recruitment & Community Coordinators to work closely with school based teams to collectively recruit and enroll new students in each of the schools in their region. The SRM will also support student enrollment efforts by providing strategies to the school based teams on how to execute the enrollment process, partnering with the Marketing & Communications team to create communication materials, and representing the region externally at community events.  

To be successful in this role, a SRM brings a track record for designing and implementing successful recruitment and / or marketing/sales strategies; and experience building and maintaining relationships with community members and partners. A SRM should be comfortable working in an environment that requires you to project manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines, while never losing sight of the overarching goals and desired outcomes.  A SRM must also have a working understanding of their regions enrollment numbers, and actively make strategic decisions based on what the data is showing. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Devise, manage and implement regional / state recruitment strategies and operational plans that support the recruitment of qualified students wishing to attend KIPP Texas in line with set targets. 

  • Collect, evaluate and share data with respect to the performance of individual recruitment initiatives and the overall student recruitment strategy. Collaborate effectively with academic and marketing colleagues to ensure recruitment initiatives and strategy are relevant. 

  • Identify key target markets and program development opportunities based on market and business intelligence, trends and research to ensure recruitment strategies and plans are relevant.

  • Identify, attend and evaluate a range of student recruitment events including recruitment fairs, exhibitions, seminars, school visits, community organized events, presentations at community partners, etc. 

  • Oversee development and management of SchoolMInt, and CRM campaigns with student prospects and applicants to closely link the CRM with specific recruitment strategies. 

Outreach.

  • Develop and maintain sustainable relationships and partnerships with new and existing external stakeholders to help establish strong links with KIPP Texas for prospective students.

  • Network and build relationships with existing families and staff to recruit friends and family members in order to access their local networks to support recruitment goals.

  • In partnership with school based teams, routinely reach-out to prospective and newly accepted families to keep them engaged, excited and informed about the school.

Collaboration

  • Lead team to work with school leaders, faculty, and staff in planning school-based open houses, enrollment information meetings, and other school-based recruitment events.

  • Collaborate and communicate regularly with the Advocacy and Marketing & Communications departments to identify and share upcoming school events that help potential families learn more about KIPP Texas 

  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications team to create and implement a marketing strategy that increases enrollment

Project Management and Strategy

  • Create and implement regional marketing and student recruitment strategic plan. Plan should include enrollment targets, measurements, and an emphasis on online/social media outreach, and community partner outreach.

  • Project manage student recruitment and enrollment across all KIPP Texas regional schools

  • Manage and execute an overall enrollment recruitment strategy in order to meet enrollment goals for your assigned region.

  • Track and analyze all data regarding student recruitment benchmarks and goals 

  • Demonstrate knowledge and support of KIPP Texas mission, and core values

  • Report out regular updates on progress towards goals to regional leadership and schools

School Alignment

  • Train, collaborate with Regional School Operations, and ensure accountability for school-based staff for recruitment and enrollment activities and procedures.

  • Lead meetings with all school leaders and/or operations leaders to inform and drive progress

  • Hold office hours to support school teams access throughout recruitment and enrollment windows

  • Lead team to provide opportunities for teacher and family participation in recruitment events.

  • Support school-based recruitment / cultivation events.

Supervisory

  • Manage and Develop team of Recruitment & Community Coordinators, Student Recruitment Intern(s) and Canvasser(s)

  • Effectively manage all staff and resources, ensuring all policies and procedures with respect of student recruitment, selection, and registration are adhered to and consistently applied. Identify and participate in continuous professional development as appropriate. 

  • Promote and encourage the practice of KIPP Texas core values and DEI principles in contacts with all staff, students and partners.

Qualifications

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

  • Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing successful student recruitment strategies and delivering recruitment activities in an education context. Or, 3-4 years of experience with sales / recruitment-related work preferable in a business, nonprofit, education, community engagement or advocacy organization.

  • Strong evidence of meeting ambitious targets. 

  • Proven experience of managing staff with ability to motivate team members to meet targets.

  • Strong cultural competency skills, including the ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse population

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Google applications (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Google Drive), with the ability to quickly learn new technologies (SchoolMint, Slack, Customer Relations Management, video conferencing and phone banking apps, etc)  

  • Must have reliable transportation to travel between campuses and to and from community events / meetings

  • Highly fluent in spoken and written Spanish (depends on region)
