KIPP KC was founded in 2007 with our middle school serving grades 5-8.  In 2013 we opened our elementary school.  Today we serve 650 students in grades PreK-8, and  intend to open our High School in Fall 2021.

Job Description

The Development Manager will work closely with the Executive Director to ensure KIPP KC’s fiscal health through developing and implementing an innovative fundraising plan.  Specifically, the Development Manager will work alongside the Executive Director, including managing and executing all regional events, helping maintain the database, conducting research and data analysis, leading tours, engaging in donor stewardship and cultivation activities, writing and performing grants and performing other duties as assigned.  

Primary Responsibilities:

Donor and Database Management (40%) 

  • Coordinate with Executive Director to identify appropriate next steps for current and prospective donors

  • Coordinate logistics for all next steps including regional donor tours, meetings, and events

  • Manage and create portfolios of all donors

  • Author annual appeal, newsletters, and stewardship letters to be sent to prospective and current donors and coordinate with a mail house for distribution

  • Maintain constituent records in donor database, upload necessary documentation, enter gift information, and track moves management

  • Conduct prospect research and remain appraised of local philanthropy news by reading local papers and journals, society pages, etc.

  • Complete fundraising and donor reports as assigned and work with Executive Director to create and update regional calendars

  • Create and manage gratuity projects for specific donors

  • Prepare for and participate in strategic regional meetings and Development team meetings

Development Efforts and Events(60%)

  • Coordinate and manage all cultivation and stewardship events including corporate volunteer events, Board engagement activities, speaker series, monthly breakfasts, student volunteer opportunities, etc. 

  • Manage and execute fundraising events tasks, ensuring all assignments are completed with timeliness and efficiency before, during, and after events (e.g., annual fundraising dinner or luncheon, school ribbon-cutting ceremonies, salon events, etc.)

  • Gather materials and prepare logistics for KIPP school and/or campus tours and provide support as needed

  • Other duties as assigned by Development Director

  • Support KIPP’s mission and goals across all programs and departments

  • Research, write and manage all grants

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • At least 2 years of development experience

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and particularly Excel)

  • Highly organized; manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines

  • Highly motivated and self-directed learner with a “whatever it takes” attitude

  • High degree of professionalism and discretion

  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy is necessary

  • Strong follow-up and follow-through skills necessary

  • Proficiency using computers, printers, copy machines, and fax machines
