Job Description

Position Overview: Your responsibilities as a lead virtual teacher

KIPP St. Louis teachers are at the core of our mission to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and character strengths needed to succeed throughout their education and in the competitive world beyond. KIPP St. Louis will offer a virtual program option to families for the 2021-22 school year. As a virtual teacher, you will teach students virtually utilizing Zoom, Nearpod and other technology to engage students in learning. KIPP Virtual Teachers will report to a KIPP St. Louis School building but will teach students who are participating in our remote learning program.

Position type: Full time, exempt    

This is a grant funded position for the 2021-22 school year. 

Must be able to be in person at a KIPP St. Louis school.

As a KIPP St. Louis Teacher, your core responsibilities include:

Curriculum Development and Instruction

●  Adapt and execute a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum to virtual setting

●   Develop academically rigorous virtual lessons, unit plans, rubrics and assessments

●   Use data to inform virtual  instructional decisions

●   Provide students with daily feedback on performance and plan for individual learning need

●   Facilitate intervention in a virtual setting to support individual student growth

●   Consistently enter student grades into online grading system

 

Help Build a Positive Virtual Classroom Culture

●   Embody and maintain school’s values, policies, and culture

●   Facilitate proactive culture routines such as advisory, morning meeting, etc. 

●   Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff

●   Establish and maintain strong communication with all parents and share progress

●   Effectively supervise and manage a virtual classroom of up to 25 students

●   Utilize technology to drive a joyful and engaging virtual curriculum

 

Demonstrate a Growth Mindset

●   Pursue challenging professional goals each year

●   Give and receive positive and constructive feedback with your colleagues

●   Participate in school-wide and individual professional development

Qualifications

The following are required of KIPP St. Louis teachers:

  • A Bachelor’s degree

  • Valid Missouri Teacher Certification or willingness to become certified ASAP 

  • Pass Criminal Background Check

  • Demonstrated commitment to closing the opportunity gap

  • Proficient in technology including, Zoom and Google Suite

Compensation

At KIPP St. Louis we take care of our employees. We provide competitive salaries and a full slate of benefits including:

  • $0 deductible healthcare plan, including medical, vision and dental. KIPP covers 100% of the monthly rate for employees and roughly 75% for dependents.
